    1. No one is perfect. No one should think they are. Dictators think they are perfect.
    2. They don't hide that they think they are perfect.
    3. Speaker credibility.
    4. I don't feel personally attacked. I'm just standing up for people who don't deserve what is being said. So many other countries will insult the American people, but I don't see it happening much the other way around.

Ask yourself this: Who are you standing up for?

Uhmm... Care to elaborate on the "third world country" thing? I'm not sure I live in the same country you are talking about.

Why do you think so many Americans are racist (amongst other things)? I've got to tell you, from an American's perspective, I don't see much racism going on where I live. The only racism I've seen in a long time is scholarship programs accepting minority students with C averages when white people have to get B averages. Other than that, there's not much to say. Of course, I'm in a pretty mixed-race area.

I think you guys read too far into stereotypes.

Stand down, chuckus; you're interrupting a very important conversation, the likes of which only occur every 15 minutes in YouTube comments.

    You read youtube comments?

And no, I'm not going to elaborate the third world thing nor the racism thing. Like I said, read up. There isn't much point in arguing with you since you really don't know anything yet.

I'm done with you. Pretty much as you've just proven; any idiot can answer questions. The fact that you don't bother thinking about anything says it all.

That's because you are: 1) Pathetic. 2) Have nothing else to say because you have no clue. 3) Can't have a decent discussion.

Why don't you stop telling me to read up when you are talking about the country that I live in and the people that I live around. It all comes down to speaker credibility.

That's mature. See, the difference between you and me is that I don't need to spend hours answering simple/stupid questions. You can try to pass the questions off as having a deeper meaning, but that's all on you.

I'm done here. Let the anti-American comments fly.

Every time you mention speaker credibility I giggle like a little school girl. At least your pathetic life has found a purpose: humoring me.

Clutch, have you ever noticed that almost every discussion you enter turns to hell, usually sooner rather than later?

Well considering most of the internet jackasses i know come from america, they have one of the highest homeless percentages in the western world, a fair majority of the population is overweight or obese, and it's "democracy" and capitalism values are only seperating the lazy (for the most part) rich from poor worker sods and welfare sloths.

Personally the only way i can see to fix this is for either America to have another civil war, or for the entire world to destroy the country and let it start again... or the unforgivable and let Russia and the soon to be newly formed uber-Soviet Union to invade and conquer their country, but i can't see many people wanting that.

Yeah, I had thought about the Civil War thing, since most of the homeless people here are mutilated, psyched out Iraq War vets.

Never let the rich send you off to war, because when you get home, missing a leg or two, you'll find that your wife has left you, the army doesn't want to remember your name, and the bank has forclosed on your house and taken everything you've got.

    God bless America.

Hmm.. Sorry about overreacting earlier. I just realized that I need to stop defending the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans are, in fact, voting for the people who are ruining America.

America is not what it used to be. Not much short of a civil war can fix this country. :(

I just watched "blue eyed", which is a 1996 film about Jane Elliot's work ... It's on youtube in 12 parts (Not the best quality though).
I must say that I'm pretty impressed by it.
And damn ... That's one lady I don't want to mess with .... Forget the iron lady, here's the platinum lady!

In 1933 45% of the German population, about 17.3 million in total, voted for the Nazi party (NSDAP) ... So this is nothing new...
Whoever said that democracy was ideal ... As Winston Churchill once said "Democracy is the worst form of all governments, except for all the others that have been tried"

Why so extreme? Can't you (in general, not you particularly, Clutch) find more moderate solutions to problems. That's one problem with America and Americans. Extreme solutions always come out first in the to do list. This last post is just a nice illustration of this general problem.

Sometimes, I wonder if this mentality of extreme solutions is not the root cause of many problems that are related to the US, the US government and people.

The best image of this that comes to mind is the poor guy that got shot through a door. He needed help in the middle of the night, knocked on the closest door, received a 12 gauge shot in the chest through then door. Of all the solutions that can be considered for a "late night knock on the door", the far extreme one came out first. Why? Is this a rare one time event or is it a generalized problem (although maybe not that extreme in most cases).

Whether or not The United States is good or bad is irrelevant. The tactics she used and the economic empire she built since WW2 has made and continues to make a lasting impression on the world. IT's economy soared and it's people prospered and things are (minus the recession) good. It's hard to argue with that.

But then you look at HOW that happened. And you see that America's strength and wealth didn't appear out of nowhere. It came from the GDP's of foreign nations from years of strategic economic, military and domestic policy decisions that arose from both sides of the political spectrum. For every dollar she gave in "licensing fees" for resources , foreign aid, military aid, money loaning (or loan sharking depending on how you look at the track record) and the popular labour "costs" of today, America has effectively turned some other countries money into her own personal wealth.

Where did that wealth wind up? Yes in the hands of the minority of million and billionaires but also in the hands of the people. It's in our shoes, our shirts, our phones, our savings accounts, our computers and our software... I meant the development costs not the torrenty-five dollars.

Our way of living is made possible by the desitute masses we leave behind and we scream and moan for our governments to fix it but cry foul when a shirt costs 15 dollars more because the workers were paid properly.

All this to say that yes we hate the fact that America, Canada, the UK, France, Germany and the other sanctimonious "western nations" all benefit by keeping foreign economies and peoples oppressed, suppressed and unable to lift THEMSELVES out of poverty. But if we had to endure the sacrifices required to rectify this situation, the compassionate masses would quickly pick sides and figure it's better to eat steak than have a clean conscience. And that's not even considering the possibility of a rogue nation with a military equal to that of the US and members of NATO.

America isn't evil, it's human nature baby.

Personally, I refuse to see it as human nature. Seeing it as culture allows a much more optimistic view of the world, which gives some more room for improvement.

Moderation can't fix major problems. It's still not too late for it to fix our problems, but it won't be for long. I just hope that someone gets in the position to fix it.
