These are just some of the things that I found to be pretty essential to being a good sniper.
1. Be patient and calm. Over-excitement is what causes you to miss 90% of the time.
2. Move around the battlefield all the time. This will make you much more likely to be in the right place at the right time. Don't worry about range too much.
3. Be observant. Pretty obvious it would seem but I can't stress it enough.
4. Once you've found your target, focus on him. Again, be relaxed and patient. Line up your shot and then fire.
5. Remember to pick up ammo once in a while.
Don't worry about missing when you're first starting out too. Even if you are following all of these rules, it is still a bit tricky sometimes to hit someone moving fast. Even the pros miss. (once in a while)
