UE1 - UT skinning in maya

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

You have to create a material with the hyper shade editor. The Hypershade editor is located in Windows > Rendering Editors > Hypershade. Click on the sphere labeled "Lambert" This will create you a new material in the main Hypershade window. From there click on that texture and the press "ctrl + A"

This will bring up the materials properties. You want to find the box labeled color and click the checked box beside it. This will pop up a menu of possible things you can assign to the color out property of that texture. You want to click picture of the mountain labeled file. From there you can browse for your "UV snapshot" or base texture.

The last thing to do is assign the material you just created to your model. With the material highlighted in the main Hypershade window middle mouse button drag that material onto your model and let go.

I'm assuming you have a base texture with a UV snapshot ready to paint.
