In addition to the usual skins, SaD has put together yet another Q&A, this time with skinner Francois. Also, a bit of sad (no pun intended) news:
Quite recently, Marvel has written a Cease and Desist letter
to a fellow skin and model site, Skindex, forcing them to take down all skins and models based on Marvel characters.

Skin City in no way supports Marvel's actions. We think that fan art is a very good thing, and taking legal action like this will only harm the Marvel fanbase.
However, in order to avoid legal trouble, Skin City will remove all Marvel characters from our database, and no longer accept submissions of Marvel characters.
If this annoys you as much as it annoys us, there's a thread
at PolyCount where you can vent. :)
And of course, the skins...

SkinPack: UT2003 Commandos (UT2003)
Robots: Chrome Tiger 2.5 (UT2003)
Juggernauts Male: CaNNoN v2 (UT2003)
Human Male: Spawn Movie (UT2003)
Human Male: Nicholas (UT2003)
Male Soldier : TLDSoldier (UT)

So this means if you run a private company, you will have to pay damages??

If skindex, net fails to provide this written confirmation by June 20, 2003, Marvel is prepared immediately to take all appropriate action to protect its valuable intellectual property rights, which may include seeking an injunction against further infringement, monetary damages, the cost of corrective advertising, and Marvel's costs and attorneys' fees.
which will effectively kill the site...

its really stupid what marvel have done, they see skindex.net as a threat to thier company?! my deepest sympathys go out to Jared, i was a follower of his site for a long time, and never really got round to entering the forums. Im shocked and disappointed at marvels current actions, as a follower of marvel stuff i thought they were better than this? :( it really makes you think i spose.

Marvel is trying to protect their intellectual property. If they don't, they may lose their rights to it. It's irrelevant whether Skindex.net is an actual threat to them or not.

It was Jared's decision to close Skindex.net as a result of this, not Marvel's. He has merely been requested to remove certain skins from his database (rather harshly, and with several typos) and threatened serious consequences if he fails to comply.

I agree, however, that it would have been a much nicer move if Marvel just had chosen to ignore Skindex.net infinitely longer.

OMS, the rules have recently changed, Copyright now lasts for 70 years. Old stuff of which the copyright ended, but is under 70 years old AGAIN gets copyright, until 70 years after the original copyright has been given

correct me if i'm wrong...
