Skillz's Lightning 2009 Thread

I just love thunderstorms. First real thunderstorm we had this year, where I was able to get out in it.

I'll update this thread as I get more throughout the year.

Sweet pic. Last year I managed making a few thunderstorm recordings. There's this one huge, wide flash of lighting. I still need to extract the picture, but I'm not sure how sharp it'll be :/ It was a magnificent sight, though.

Man I love thunderstorms. Hanging outside the window, feeling the rain splatter on your face... undergo the ferocious raging in the sky...you feel so small and powerless. And at the same time so full of life.

Yeah that stuff blasted through my area yesterday, too. I was going to walk to the grocery store but quickly changed my mind. First storm of the season!

Yea it got much worse the next day. Lots more lightning, thought I was going to get some more shots but what I ended up getting is myself into trouble. Flooding all over the coast here, found myself wishing I was driving in a boat instead of my Maxima. Water in the street(s) was up past the modeling on my doors, it was nasty. I took shelter in one of the casino's parking garages and waited the storm out for a couple hours.

Ended up getting a ride home with some friends in an SUV that sits much higher than my car. Sadly, it was raining so much/so bad that I didn't really get any shots of lightning. Although it was lightning ten fold that night.

First time, first picture. Hope to have some more before the season is over.
