Why do people always get angry with me? After all, I'm not the best player in the world, yet I piss-off people with regularity. So what if I swooped down from a hidden corner? So what if I managed to get a sniper position on your tower in that 2-tower astroid map? (can't think of the name off-hand...)

What my question is, are sneakers and spies and people who stick to the shadows bad people? I mean, I get accused of being an ass many times 'cause I would'nt waltz out with an M-16 and duke it out with them. Are players like that skilled, or just hacks? Everyone hates campers, but what about those that are constantly moving, but in the side areas where you cant see them? Are THEY lamers? Any type of response at all is greatly appreciated. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hell no.
Stealth is what real Inf play is about, and i for one try to be as sneaky as posible.

If u want bunny jumping and dodging, then play regular UT, it screams out for thease "tactics".

And why do people bitch about getting fragged, i mean....u win some and u lose some. And if youre up against a better player, then learn by watching.

Hey, camping, if it has a good purpose (like controlling a vital point in the map) is allowed and sneaking around is encouraged. If those people don't like it, they should'nt be playing inf...

Indeed; people who run around in an Inf game thinking they're playing standard UT where skill is measured by how fast you can dodge, how high you can jump or what tricks you can play with a translocator deserve to be shot in the head by a sniper they never even saw...

Personally I much prefer the 'sneaky' mods like Inf and Strike Force to playing standard UT online.

Skill!

Anyone who whines because you killed them by sneaking around is a moron. I much prefer sneaking around to running around in the open, on most maps... (DMBigClapper is harder to do this on if you're the first team, since you've got enemies coming in from all sides, but you'll still get killed faster if you hop around everywhere... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

I can't count the number of times I've been crouch-crawling down a stairway or a corridor, only to watch one of my teammates rush past me, run blindly around a corner, and get their head blown off by an enemy in the next room. Whereas I poke my head quietly and stealthily around the corner, and I survive a good portion of the time. (Except when my cable modem service decides to do one of those damned hiccups as *soon* as I get the enemy in my crosshairs...@#$% RoadRunner... /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

Of course, sometimes I get a wild hair and just charge into the fray spraying bullets from my MP5, but I do it just for the hell of it, knowing full well I'm gonna be dead very soon. Sometimes, though, I can take one or two of the enemy with me /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Occasionally, I even live! Course, the last time I charged in with a shotgun and lived, it was on the roof of the building, and when I'd killed all but one enemy, I ran out of ammo...so I jumped off the roof to escape while I was reloading. I realized about halfway down that I was at 21 health and it was a damn tall building...ouch... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

camping

Camping is ok.. People who hate campers, dont know how to deal with them. I love campers.. I make it my goal to flush them..

THink is, campers will never take 1st in a standard FPS game like quake or UT.. However, in Inf, in a game with purpose like assassination or or VIP, they can win the game..

long ass round...

i think the reason peeps hate campers is because they take up alot of time. i mean, if u died early in the round, u gotta wait until time is up or somebody kills that camper (camper vs. camper? that WOULD kinda suck /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
infiltration is already a slow game... so online play for one round would last a long time...and dead players will get pissed...
ya, i'm assuming inf online play will kinda be like cs, tacops, and sf: LMS (is that the term for it, where u die and wait for the round to be over?)

actually i tend to hate ppl who DON'T camp, in tac ops for instance... everybody is running around like it's regular deathmatch... on oilrig hostage mission.. all the T's run out to hunt for ct... while i was the only 1 staying behind to guard the hostages. Ofcourse they all ended up dead and i took down the remaining 3 ct's when they came for the hostages simply by setting up an ambush and shooting em in the back when they had passed. And for that some ppl wanted to vote me out.

Crosshairs are for wimps /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I started playing R6 to try to get into more realistic games, man was I wrong. It is just like UT ppl running as fast as possible around corners and laying on the trigger. I got banned from several servers cause I would hide out in a room and wait for ppl to walk by and pick their fast moving a$$es off from behind. HAHA!! UT Inf onffline is way more fun. Set your lives at 1, pick off the bots 1 at a time, its a blast!!

i like campers...under sertain degrees,if a camper sits with a handgun for a whole round then i get pissed, but if he/shes sniping, then its fun,or if their trenched and stick their heads out every few seconds to give bay fire[what i call shooting at the general direction of the enemy to keep them at bay]then its still fair and fun...people who think camping is cheating probably have not played paint ball.

I was once flamed in a game of SF because i happened to be hiding under a stair (catching my breath so i could run again)... They did not think it was fair that i killed one of those godlike players that was ruling the game :).

I feel it is more unfair to get killed by one of thoses roadrunners that are just running around with low ping and killing everyone... I just hate when i try to cautious approach and get killed by someone i had just emptied my clip in his back (a guy who got saved by the all too common and conveniant "lag shield"). And i can't stand one of thoses bastard that happen to flame me because i could cap them 1 or 2 times when they were not looking...

I just can't wait to face thoses guys online in INF :).

camp or hide?

Yeah I like what I am hearing, mix it up.
post up in an ambush spot for a min or so
then go cover a TEAMMATES ass somewhere else.
That one thing that a camper doesn't do enough of. Now a sniper and cover man scenario is productive. But remember Mr and Mrs "Stealth"
when your ass is hiding u got a good chance that a teammate is dieing. Its Infiltration
not the friggn 6 Day War!

people tthat just camp and never move are the problem. a sniper that moves to a good position and kills several people is good. i guy who sneaks a round in the corners is good. someguy who hides in some idiotic place while his whole team heads of and to encounter the enemy team on the other end of the map is bad. if you keep going to a place where nothing ever happens then your lame. if you move and are actually helping you team and not just trying to survive the longest then you are ok.

Camping:

How I define Camping: Positioning yourself in an out of the way location, which will give you a clear tactical edge over your opponent should he come looking for you.

The key is out of the way..

Example: say you find a nice place where you can get up above a door frame and fire down at people as they pass thru the door... If the Door is LIKELY to be used during normal play, its intelligent defending. If its unlikely to be used unless someone has to go looking for you, then its camping.

Most players believe in the "Honorable" fight...

They don't care if the ones they are fighting are less skilled, or less inclined to fight it their way... For them strategies are not needed, just plain skill and a few tactics. They also don't care when the others don't enjoy the battle as much as they do (by beating them badly).

They just can't imagine a way in wich skills are less important than how intelligently they are used... The goal is more important than the mean.

Being honoralble is stupid

if your in a real war your gonna be hyding cuz how many ppl with there lives on the line are gonna run out in the open to try to beserk some ppl

they would only be able to pull that tactic once

so its stupid that ppl run out and beserk ppl in my opinion

Camping

I like to think there is a difference between camping and sniping (or defending smart). My thought is why put sniper rifles in the game if they weren't meant to be used. I am certainly not going to take the Robar and go into a room like I would with a MP5 or a shotgun.

Snipers I can respect cause if it were real there would be snipers out there trying to pick me off as I move through the map. Its the guy that hides in a dark corner until the time runs out in the round that drives me nuts.

some times the line grays. it's the guys that pick the sniper rifle even thoought the team already has 3 snipes. it's the one's that sit in the sameplace for 15 minutes and haven't heard a shot. the big distinction is are they covering your advance, and objective, chokepoint. or just running to the nearst high spot and poping people.

Can you spot the sniper?
