How is Epic gonna handle all the Shadow details???

-crisp Vs. blurry shadows depending how far away the light source is?
-Texture masks..will they cast a shadow?
-will light ''bounce'' off of walls illuminating surrounding objects??
-will projectors even show up?

I saw the demo and i was veryimpressed with character shadows... but the res was too low on my pc, so i didnt notice what i mentiond up there^^

kudos to the transparent effects on the bird/monster thing's wings...
kudos to the light blosom effects too;)

I imagine things like soft shadows and some new shadow and light effects we have never seen before will be in UT2k7 and will require a very high end PC to get. Soft shadows as it is right now are pretty system demanding and require a geforce 6 series card just to get working.

they've said that they are gonna be using alot of soft shadow

Soft Shadows are awsome, but they are real system demanding and I think your graphics card has to have pixel shading 3.0 for it to even work. But this is no surprise really, we all know UT2k7 will be using the latest technology, so those with real high end systems will get a real nice treat.

Tru but i dont think hardware will be an issue for alot of ppl, epic is smart, they have forseen the 64-bit future in gaming and r 100% ready for it...I just hope i have enough money for this upcoming 'gameing revolution' ;)

I guess itll work because minimum requirements for the gfx card is a Radeon x800 or something.
Its a new engine and they had to cut some of the old rap :)

Prepare to upgrade when UT2007 gets out :)

I know I won't. Good thing I stil like 2k4, 'cause I'll still be playing that one for a good long time. The highest-end tech right now was only just barely able to run the test levels of GoW... Event he high-end systems will have to upgrade farily severely when 2k7 comes out, or so at least is my understanding, correct me if I'm being too pessimistic here.

UT is well known for supporting older hardware tho, shouldn't worry too much. To run it well in good details you'll need a 6600 on a 64 bit proc i think.

Epic also saw Dual cores coming, and probably SLI too. Their code will work better on the x2 systems i think - and by the time it's out the GF7s should be old ;)
