setting up a non-dedicated server

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Erm..I want to set up a NON-dedicated server
on Unreal so me and my friends can play through
TCP/IP. They all live near me, so I know it'd be
a good game, and my computer is fast also.

The last time I tried I went to MULTIPLAYER>>START GAME
and it created the game for me, and I also set up my map
rotation in the advanced options, but when my friend tried entering my IP (that I got from typing winipcfg in START>>RUN) in the Gamespy Lite that is in Unreal, he said he got a message saying "File Not Found" or something, and he couldn't connect.

How do I set up a server for me and my friends, and what kind of options fo I change in the advanced options to make the server work?

Just try things the easy way first.

Call em up tell them the name of your server, give you 2 minutes to put it up.

Have them search for it in Unreal's server browser by gametype\name.

-make sure advertise server is true.
