Server woes

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Okay fellow Infiltration players I need some serious help.
I am setting up a dedicated server and all seems to be going well other than I can not get past my barricade. I have read all the tips I can find and I am tired of pulling out my hair. So what I need is a way to get my LAN/Router to let me get past it so I can get my server live.

NT2000 op sys 1.2 gz processor, plenty of RAM

Router SMC [barricade]

The server shows up as a LAN server when I launch it but never gets past that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Frustrated in Oregon!!!

Does the router block ports? If so, open the needed ports. Which exactly depends on a) what port your INF is running on (INI), b) the uplinktports (dunno those... Should be in the INI) and c) if using webadmin, that port, too...

Got multiple network cards? Maybe you need to specify the multihome in the startup script...

You have 2 options with that router

1. logon to the router and goto setup / advanced setting / virtual server.
there set the interal ip of the system that is your server with the private port and public port for access.

2. if the above is 2 complicated and your the server is only serving infiltration or you dont mind it hang out there on the net for all to see, is to go to setup / advanced setting / Misc and open the internal ip address up as a DMZ

for more info on these options and how to set them read you manual, which can also be downloaded from www.smc.com

have fun!

I have already tried both of the SMC suggestions and they appeared to not get the server to show up. I will give it another try this evening.

Could it have anything to do with the fact I am on a cable modem?

Yep, unless you have a real IP on your inside network you'll need to set up port forwarding to your internal IP. Your router supports it if I'm not mistaken about the model. It's realy easy and if you don't know alot about firewalls, just go online and search for info on port forwarding.

Upstream is important on howmany people you can host. If you've got one of those ISPs that are capped at 128kbps then you're screwed. Either way make sure you limit the max netspeed in the ini to a relatively low setting. I use I would try 2000-3000 and see how it works.

Yep, it is limited on the upstream, damn cable people want to control everything. So I went ahead and limited the net speed to 2000 and it seems to be better, just have to limit the game to 6 people. Oh, well it makes a great practice server for the [PIMP]'sters to workout our strategies on.

Thanks from an ex-East LA boy for all the help it is much appreciated
