    I really - really - really hope Epic get their act together with UT2007 with its code regarding modders etc as this I feel is going to make or break the game.

    I just had a look at his code and this is sooooo typical of him.
    Instead of him contacting me, or even acknowledging his emails, he does a search, writes a warning to the log and disables UT2Vote's BroadcastHandler altogether.
    This is sooooooo typical of the unorthodox methods used by the modern coder.
    Code:
        if (Level.Game.BroadcastHandler.IsA('UT2VoteChatHandler'))
        {
            log("WARNING: A broken broadcast handler is being used: "$Level.Game.BroadcastHandler.class, name);
            foreach AllActors(class'BroadcastHandler', BH)
            {
                if (BH.class == Level.Game.default.BroadcastClass)
                {
                    log("Found the original broadcast handler "$BH.class, name);
                    BH.RegisterBroadcastHandler(Self);
                    break;
                }
            }
        }

    I'm surprised he did not try and break Zound as well.

    ServerExt seems not to be the only problem, AntiTCC seems to have also difficulties with UT2Vote .... or the other way round.

    But the question is: What should we do now? Do you, Ben, want to work again on UT2Vote or do you want to leave it as it is?

    UT2Vote52 Beta 1 will be ready in 30 minutes, same with Zound.
    I only hope UAdmin and OLStats follow suite because the last time I looked they also used the 'old' handler route.

    The following 2 warnings are written many times in the UT2004.log (client):

    Warning: UT2VoteChatting DM-1on1-Crash.UT2VoteChatting (Function UT2Vote51.UT2VoteChatting.Timer:013E) Accessed None 'Owner'

    Warning: UT2VoteChatting DM-1on1-Idoma.UT2VoteChatting (Function UT2Vote52B1.UT2VoteChatting.Timer:013E) Accessed None 'Owner'

    Since 52B2 the warnings were added by this one:

    Warning: UT2VoteClient Package.UT2VoteClient (Function UT2Vote52B2.UT2VoteClient.Begin:0226) Accessed None 'UT2VRI'

    Thanks, should be better in B3 although I think its the new patch causing this maybe.
    Anyways Warnings are minor and should be switched off.
    I dont know why Epic sets debug on as default.

    I do not think that the warnings should be switched off. They often help me to find mistakes in maps etc. which cause either a server crash or the server runs not correctly.
    Due to that I have never set Suppress=Warnings in the server.ini because I want to know what is going on on my server (also if it is only a warning).

    Ahh yes I agree, if you need it and understand it then switch it on by all means.
    The problem is most Admins get all uptight over these warnings and at the end of the day thats all it is - a simple Warning.

    Very true. OMG Warnings! Lots of chicken little admins out there.

    And it is pretty unfortunate that tact isn't some of those guys strong suits. Especially if they are as dedicated to the game as you would be led to believe -- they do run a big site and all.. Hooray for inflated egos.
