Server Configuration Suggestions

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hi all,

We are in the process of getting a couple SG Servers Infiltration Servers back on line. Since I have been away from the game for a while I would appreciate any advice you can offer on how the servers should be configured.

We will be running 1 TDM and one EAS server to start with.

We are hoping you can answer some questions, such as what maps should be in rotation, how many minimum players, what mutators should be on the server, etc. Any comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Mutators:
- Rolling M67 (bundles with 2.9)
- Report Direction (serverside mutie that allows extended communication keybinds)

For the TDM server you will also need the NoSniperclasses Mutator.

For the players i think 10 are a minimum for a server. More is allways better but the problem is, that 2.9 takes up ALOT of server (CPU) power and it grows exponentially with the number of players.

But you can tweak it a bit. We set the HBFixFrequency option to 2 (= position updates per minute).

Thanks, I will change our setting.

What are your guys opinions on bots? Right now I have the server set to allow 16 players and the min set at 6. Is that high enough or is this what you meant when you said 10 players. Not sure how ppl feel about playing with bots.

Any other ideas are welcomed.

This influences the behaviour of the hill bug fix (hence HBFix...). It is the frequency in 1/s (aka Hz) with which the replication of the players position will be forced if he doesn't move. By setting it to 1 you will only get this update once every second. If there occurs a hillbug then the player will reset to his real position after one second. With a setting of 2, he will reset after half a second.

PS: the default is 5
PPS: you must/can set it for every individual gamemode

The fix doesn't remove all hillbugging, it only attempts to re-replicate player info. You'll still get hillbugs with or without it(there are different flavors of hillbugs...), and I haven't noticed any real difference with it set at 1 or 5, although theoretically higher would be better. 5 times a second sounds quite excessive to me.

I wouldn't set it to zero, you might get a divide by zero error. ;)
