Hi,

I'm just installing UnWheel for the first time and I have a few questions.

1) Do I need to include the two specified "ServerPackages" lines in my UT2004.ini if everyone else has also installed UnWheel (only a few of us are playing)? I like to minimize these since watching demos seems to require their installation.
2) What line do I need to add to my runserver.bat to include the UnWheel mutator?
3) How do I make Unwheel votable? E.g. between frags we want to have a race :)

I think that's it. Thanks!

how embarassing. some of my questions seem to be answered with another post adjacent to this one. I'll try that voting handler trick cited there. but I guess my other questions hold...

ok, I can now vote for the current Unwheel gametypes. However, I think there is a conflict between UnWheel and UTComp because if I run UTComp and UnWheel it doesn't work. I envoke UTComp in my runserver.bat.

Any way to get around this? This time I DID search for UTComp in this forum before my post ;)

Does not work with utcomp

I tested this with the latest release of UnWheel and it still doesn't work with utcomp. It's a nice game but I really like the utcomp mutator too. Hopefully, someone can fix this soon.

You don't need brightskins and hitsounds in a driving game :p

UTComp is well know for replacing a lot of core classes, which breaks a lot of stuff, so there's really very little chance it'll work with many mods other than standard UT. If you do get it working with other mods, those will probably also end up half broken.

Not really anything I can do about it unfortunately. If you're using voting to turn UnWheel on and off, you can disable the mutator from there. If you're running an UnWheel server from the command line/batch file, take UTComp out of the command.

Only thing you'll be missing out on is the coloured names.

I think you missed my point :)

I don't care about using UTComp with Unwheel. It's just that I use it with UT2K4 and I wanted to be able to vote for Unwheel occasionally.

That said, you mentioned the ability to vote to disable UTcomp before we vote for Unwheel. This works but I didn't know you could do that. I currently have UTComp in my server.bat

Are you sure that this capability to turn off UTComp exists in the standard voting?

Thanks.

Shrimp,

That is a good idea. I have utcomp enabled on all games by default. I could assign it as a separate mutator on each gametype. I use ut2vote mutator but I am sure the vote menu config that comes with ut2k4 also support setting individual mutators.

Thanks. Will let you know if I encounter any problems.

Well, in the voting config there's a "Mutators=" option, I thought if you leave that blank it'll remove any mutators...

GameConfig=(GameClass="UnWheel.UWGameTeamCTF",Prefix="UWTCTF",Acronym="UWTCFT",GameName="UnWheel Team CTF",Mutators=,Options=)

I don't think so but I can try. I employ UTComp in my server.bat and it doesn't appear in any of my voting line items. When we switch, I'm pretty sure UTComp sticks around.

I guess it's worth a try.

I understand the problem here (same reason I could never use UTComp with UT2Vote) but it would be good to have some kind of solution. Otherwise, I doubt UnWheel will be used on my server. But I really do want to! :)

It worked on my server. I am running utcomp1.3b and ut2vote44. Now, the UnWheel gametype does not use the utcomp1.3b mutator, just ut2vote44. All other gametypes run with utcomp1.3b and ut2vote44. Thanks for the help.
