Hello people,

I recently reinstalled Unreal again but as you can guess I can't get the game to run in anything else than Software mode. I installed the official "Final" patch but that doesn't help.

Direct3D, when I run it fullscreen, makes the game run like a Powerpoint presentation.

OpenGL just doesn't work at all and the game doesn't even start up when I use that.

Using the S3 Metal thing gives me the notification that it couldn't find metal.dll - I think the last time I played Unreal I used this renderer, but I don't know how I got it working then and I can't find the DLL file for it anywhere.

I think that last time around I saw a message from someone on these forums as well who uploaded a fix for every rendering mode, but I'm not sure if it was on this forum and I can't find the post.

If anyone could help me out with this that'd be grand :)

Sangman,

My MeTaldrv.dll is located in my Unreal System folder. I don't know how it got there, but it likely got there when I installed Unreal. An updated version likely is included with Patch 226f and with Patch 227f, but I'm not positive of that.

In any case, take a look in the System folder to determine whether it's there. It should be. Let us know what you find. You have an S3 graphics card or chip, right?

Thanks for the suggestions Freddie, but the unofficial patch 227 of OldUnreal fixed all my problems as far as I can see :)
