rejoin rules?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Is there anything that prevents a player from disconnecting then reconnecting to the server after he died? I've seen several instances where I get he "XXXXX is out" message then later in the same wave I see the guy running around again.
What are the rules regarding rejoining? is it allowed all the time, only under certain conditions? was the guy out because he somehow got disconnected from the server without dying first?
It seems that you could save the player's GUID for the duration of the wave and force them back into spectating if they try to disconnect then rejoin. At least make it an option?

Usually, when a player is out, their status is cached on the server so that if they try to rejoin they're automatically out. Also, if the game is well into a wave and someone joins, they are forced to spectate until the next wave.

I'm afraid that by changing your IP and reconnecting you can get around the status set on the server, so there's not a lot I can do about that, sorry. :(

You could cache their Global Id instead of the IP address, I thin that's how the JailBreak Mod does it.
Maybe next time I see someone do it I'll ask them how they did it but it's not that big a deal, I know it can get frustrating if you accidentally get killed at the start of a wave for doing something stupid.

At least from the LAN side, it appears that I can disconnect/rejoin during a wave and I'm certain my IP address didn't change.
Is this something stupid like it's an option that I didn't configure properly in the ini file?
If not let me know if I can help figure out why the feature appears to be broken.
