Recording JB Matches

Wasn't sure what thread to put this under, so i made a new one
Since no one will be able to spectate the upcoming JB Tournament matches (which is fair enough), how about recording them instead.

I found this little program that makes recording and playing the demo's really easy. The download link is at the bottom of the review.
I'm willing to record the matches I play in, not sure if recording games causes lag or not, but it doesn't seem to.

Just a thought, since several people have been a bit annoyed at not being able to spectate.

Dalton has made some recordings during the JELP2003, see this Utstats page).
I've never seen them though, but he used UTDemo Manager 3.0 BETA (or use the direct download link).
Do you still have those recordings Dalton?

I've just downloaded and tried that one. Alot better than the one i posted.

Server demos of the matches would be nice so we can have all players' views at any time during demo playback. A clientsidely recorded demo would only allow to view the players currently "relevant" to that client.

Not worth the trouble imo (who want's to watch 16 demos anyway) - what about recording the finals only?

Yeah, demos wind up being massive (especially server demos, which are the only ones worth watching IMHO), they really aren't worth the effort in many cases. Most clans record them in case there's some sort of dispute about cheating or abuse of some kind, then they can just give an admin the demo and prove what really happened. A reporter bot for IRC would seem to me to be much better, since people could "tune in" live and follow the match as it happened.

I was thinking about an IRC bot, but unless you know where to get one that works, demo's are the next best thing.
Only the finals would be a better idea though

The only thing is, that it is a server side bot.
The only client side one I could find had broken download links
I doubt any of the bots will support JB though, there might be a way to customise it that I don't know about.

I just tested the Mv|Reporter bot on EnterTheGame, #jb.report.

It doesn't fully support all the JB features, the main ones being capture counts.
The bot might be in DM mode or something, might work better if I could see a CTF mode.
It did support the the release message though.
I was playing with the PSI Weapons Dream mod incase ur wondering

Found a client side bot here: http://www.planetunreal.com/insomnic/ircrepnews.html and it looks like this one can be easily modified to support the JB gametype ... maybe you can give this one a try Katana and we'll whip one of our UScript gurus to make the necessary changes afterwards ...

Yes i have, but it's like the others stated before me, the recordings only show me & some of the teammates, not everything is recorded.

Why not, tell me when you want to record them, and if I'm not busy I can do it.
Though, quite a few escapes need more than one player.
