Thought provoking movie that thoroughly captivated me with it's unbelievable story from start to finish.
The essence of the film is how you end up interpreting events in your final analysis.
No point trying to explain it here, watch the movie and figure it out for yourself.

I just saw it in 3D and I honestly don't think it added a single thing. It probably only made it darker and blurrier.

I personally think the HFR 3D was a huge improvement over regular 3D. I have gotten to the point where I don't like watching 3D because of the shuttering. Any action sequences are very difficult to watch. Maybe I'm just sensitive to it. With HFR 3D, I felt none of that. It was clear and very watchable.

I don't like gimmicky 3D ie, things fly out of the screen at you. I prefer 3D that give the feeling of depth, like looking through a window instead of looking at a flat screen. It think this movie with the new frame rate did that perfectly. I personally thought it was some of the most enjoyable and immersive 3D I've seen.

Question is: Have you read the book? It is also an amazing work of fiction.

Jack Reacher 7/10

Solid action movie that doesn't overstay its welcome despite being over two hours long. They did a pretty decent job of compressing the plot of the book into something manageable and my only real complaint is

a small reveal near the start that removes some of the mystery that was in the book.

Those familiar with the books will realise that there is a slight difference between the physical characteristics of the eponymous hero and Tom Cruise and that has upset some. Whilst I wouldn't really want to give Cruise an even break, he carried the role well. Rosamund Pike was much less convincing but fortunately that didn't matter too much.

I'm slightly surprised that "One Shot" was picked for the debut film as the mystery was somewhat abstract. There again, "Die Trying" (Die Hard in a forest) might have cost too much to make.

Summary? Decent crunchy violence, not too much kissing, nice set pieces.

Tears of the Sun-8.5/10

I haven't seen this film in quite a while. It's confronting and tough to watch at the best of times. One of Bruce Willis's best flicks.

Half a point deducted for the fact that, despite traipsing through the bush in the worst possible conditions, Monica Bellucci's character's make-up stayed perfect for most of the film.

Zero Dark Thirty - 8/10

Really good. Jessica Chastain as the CIA operative behind all of this absolutely kills it. Hell, all of the actors are great in this.

But alas, it's a movie in which we all know the outcome, so it's a bit anti-climatic so to speak. And I didn't think it needed to be so long. But it certainly held my attention.

I recommend it to anyone who's not a terrorist.

Skyfall - 9/10

Easily one of the best Bond films IMO. And certainly light years ahead of the abomination known as Quantum of Solace. Everything is there. Expertly crafted action sequences, great acting and cast, classic 007 music, but most of all it's memorable. I found myself thinking about it the next day rather than just forgetting about it like I do with other movies.

Under the bridge downtown.
Django Unchained 8.5/10
I love Quentin Tarantino and this movie is no exception however it felt a bit too long. Regardless great performances from all cast members, especially DiCaprio.

Flight 7.0/10
The first half of the film is close to a 10 but the second half is boring, Denzel Washington does his best role to date.

Zero Dark Thirty 8.0/10
Way better than I expected it to be, Jessica Chastain carries the movie well.

Silver Linings Playbook 9.5/10
My favorite of year 2012, it's funny, it's sad and it's pleasant to watch. The characters are incredibly well written. Acting is well done also.

Argo 7.5/10
It's good but never really gripped me, I just didn't find the story very interesting.

Dredd 7.5/10
I can't rate a movie like this higher tham 7.5, but this is how Judge Dredd is supposed to be done, miles ahead of the older Dredd movie with Stallone. Slowmotion is used well maybe a bit too much, but in some places it looks incredible. Story is easy and reminded me of The Raid - Redemption.

Seven Psycopaths - 3/10
This biggest letdown of the year, the story is just all over the place and it does not work, not one bit. Acting wise it's decent but nothing special which is odd when there's Christopher Walken, Colin Farell, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson etc. but the script is shit, for example on the filmposter, there are 7 people and there's a tagline saying that these people are the 7 psycopaths which they are not!

Expected more from a cast like this and the director of the brilliant film In Bruges.

Argo - 5/10 - Not sure what all the fuss is about with this film but it bounced along at a reasonable pace but nothing amazing.
Ben Affleck is getting all sorts of praise for his direction in this film from what I gather and this along with The Town sets him up with a promising CV.

7 Psychopaths - 6/10 - This has Tarantino written all over it, except he's got nothing to do with it.
Interesting criminal underworld comedy that has Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson hamming it up together - expect some weird crap just off the back of that really.

Django Unchained - 5/10 - Talking of Tarantino, he directs and as usual, plays a part in this western that tries too hard to be weird but then, it is a Tarantino movie.
Story is kinda forgettable really and ends in a predictable manner.

What caught my attention was the detail toward the era like how people dressed and acted back then. Plus the tension thru the movie was well played. Then the premise of the story being factual just made it incredible to believe. That's why I scored it high in my book.

I cant believe people lied to me and said Dredd was good.
I fucking love action films but the entire thing was just a sequence of the director saying "it would be really cool if we could have a scene where..." the storyline was retarded, filled with plot holes (one of the characters is a psychic who is only psychic where it doesnt interfere with the plot) and the cgi looked like it was done by the guys who did pirates! the porno.
