    Pirate Radio - 8/10

The sound track is awesome, the story is cool, the acting was good, and had some pretty funny moments. Something to check out if you have the time and money.

Fahrenheit 451. Brilliant idea with the spoken, no-text intro. A very close adaption of the novel, which works surprisingly well. I really liked Oskar Werner's reserved acting (as opposed to Truffaut, if IMDB's trivia page is to be trusted). 8/10

It's A Wonderful Life. The classic Christmas story. A wonderful movie with great actors (led by the greatest, James Stewart) and an overabundance of positive thought. However, that's also what keeps me from fully embracing it. It's the fairy tale of the American Dream (that, interestingly, is only pursued by the main protagonist) in one of its more unbelievable incarnations. 8/10

In The Mood For Love. Amazing camera work, lighting and rhythm. I loved the melancholic slow motion scenes of the two main characters passing by each other, accompanied by the string theme, that initiated every "act". Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung make for a great screen couple, once again. 10/10

Antoine Et Colette. Antoine has changed quite a bit since his last appearance, although he is still searching. The classical music that accompanies the story of his rejected love is just great. 7/10

A Pulp Fiction-esque film that is a joy ride from start to finish. Loved it!

    Funny People - 6/10

Eh, it was ok. There were some parts that were pretty hilarious. It needed more funny.

Also, Adam Sandler with that annoying voice he does is annoying. It was also a bit long.

But, yeah, Seth Rogen is awesome. Check it out if you think immature jokes are funny (I do).

    Yu-Gi-Oh! - The Movie 0/10

Little more than an extended infommercial, even the 8-year old admitted that it wasn't very good. Curiously, that didn't stop him from watching it twice at the weekend...

Other recent watching (not rated because I've rated them at some point in the past):

Goldfinger: Enjoyable but I think it the weakest of the early Bonds.
Thunderball: Probably my favourite of the early Bonds and looking very fine in Blueray.

Heroes Season 3: I've seen many complaints about this (obviously didn't look too closely because of the risk [certain] of spoilers) and I think they are, to some extent, unfair. I would have hated to watch this season at the rate of one episode a week - too much going on and too confusing - but watching it on disc is a different matter. The plot mostly makes sense as one does not have to remember minor details from six months previously. Where I do think it falls down is in the lack of an overarching objective - season one had it ("save the cheerleader") and so the many plot threads could be viewed in that light. Season three does not (at least, so far - only up to Episode 13) and so it is hard to understand the direction of the show - is it aimless machinations or is there destination that was always intended. I suspect the former and that is a weakness.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm really enjoying this season.

As an aside, this is the first television series that I bothered getting on Blueray and it does definitely benefit. There are lots of little nuances in the performances that one misses on DVD. It's only when one sees them for the first time that one realises that they are probably there in other series but invisible to the viewer.

It was an okay film, but a bit too silly for my tastes. Gets a 4 purely because it has pugs in it.

Scener Ur Ett Äktenskap (aka Scenes From A Marriage). The scenes in the beginning depicting Katarina and Peter destroying each other verbally are quite disturbing. When it comes to Johan telling Marianne about his falling in love with another woman, her trying to hold on to the routine, to what she's used to, not minding the fact in itself, and then her reaction to hearing how long he's planning to stay away at least, might be even more disturbing. Brilliant cinematography, brilliant script, brilliant acting. 10/10

Saraband. Johan and Marianne, thirty-two years after. Johan looks back on his life in regret and bitterness, estranged from his son and only caring for his granddaughter. Everyone is damaged. There's a number of very disturbing scenes in this follow-up as well, but somehow, I didn't consider it quite as good. The focus lies more on family ties rather than the relationship between the two main characters, and while the first movie showed the tension between them wanting to end it all and not quite being able to, in the (not quite as convincing) sequel there's mostly repulsion to be witnessed. 8/10

Doom. The first half isn't that bad as an action flick, if you consider it's originally a computer game that isn't all that famous for its plot (which wasn't even taken up for the movie). There's a good amount of stupid in it, of course, and it's also riddled with cliches (especially all the characters), but it works as what it is until towards the second half the stupid takes over (and wins with the end fight). The first person scene is abnormally silly, but original. 5/10

The Time Machine 7/10- Started out pretty good, then once he went to the year 800,000 or whatever it was it just got wierd. An uber morlock that can mind control other ape men and humans who are now living on cliffsides because the moon crashed into the earth? Yeah like I said it got wierd. It was however enjoyable.

Dude wheres my car 3/10 - Stupid movie with very bad effects near the end, but that segment where they are in the drive through always gets me.

From Dusk till Dawn 8/10 - Nice vampire flick, though a little corny at the end. Extra points for the boobies and penis pistol.

Gangs of New York - 10/10. A perfect and excellent movie, just phenomenal. The last scene (and I mean the last scene) was just subtle but brilliant, just like the closing scene to Black Hawk Down.

    (500) Days of Summer - 8/10, I don't really know what to say except that it was a good movie, acting was pretty good and it was kinda different.

A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints - 7/10, I liked it but the story wasn't interesting enough for a higher score.

Saw 6 - 5/10, I'm impressed, usually movies with that amount of sequels are really crappy but this one is actually OK, nowhere near the 1st and the 2nd movie though.

Office Space - 8/10, Brilliant comedy!

Changeling - 8.5/10, Probably the best role I've seen Angelina Jolie in. Clint Eastwood is a genius!

Zombieland - 8.5/10, Woody is brilliant as always and Bill Murray proves that he is one of the funniest guys in Hollywood, gotta love that guy. While it's a really great movie, I still prefer Shaun of the Dead (for zombie comedy).

Twilight 2 - 3/10, I don't know why I even bothered to watch this, I've never read the books and I didn't like the first movie either but meh. Weak acting and really bad dialogue.

Zombieland -- 8/10 -- Good but too much lovey stuff. And the main actor guy was trying way too hard to be Michael Cera. Getting tired of the LOLhe'savirginLOL humor.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy -- 6/10 -- Silly but worth a watch. Probably best while high.

Gran Torino -- 8.5/10 -- Kind of slow to start but I ended up enjoying it. At first I wished he had killed everyone but I guess that wouldn't have worked out too well.

A Serious Man -- 7/10 -- Pretty good but I almost forgot about it. Funny in an indirect sort of way. Dumb ending. It's like they ran out of paper while writing the script and just stopped. It wasn't thought-provoking or anything. It just went off.

Slumdog Millionaire -- 7.5/10 -- A great concept, IMO, but the ending was too cliche and predictable. Why can't movies have unhappy endings? Or at least avoid endings where every f**king things ends up perfectly? It's so trite by now.

Trainspotting -- 7.5/10 -- Requiem for a Dream was better (it was filmed four years later but still) but the people in this one had cooler accents. :p

Precious -- 8/10 -- Depressing. And yet I was hoping it'd be even more depressing. Maybe the venue screwed it up for me because I had a too-large and too-obnoxious family next to me and had a girl cuddling with me, so it was hard to get into the depression-y bits too much. Also, why was Mariah Carey in this movie? F**k Mariah Carey. Needed more no-name actors.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High -- 6/10 -- A "classic" comedy. Not really all that funny by today's standards but there were some hot boobies in it. I loved the one guy's pickup lines though. "Can I get a meatball sandwich, a medium Coke, and your phone number?" And then about 10 minutes into their first date he's all, "So, am I going to get to first base?" And this guy's supposed to be 26?! Smooooth. Then they start making out, she's topless within 20 seconds, and they're f**king 30 seconds later. I guess people were more efficient in the 80s.

    Gamer 7.5/10

I was expecting a mindless action flick... what I got was a mindless action flick with mildly thought provoking extra (societies, you'll get it once you see the movie)

    BenX 9/10

never thought I'd see a movie from Belgium that captivates me.

    Read the book!
...and then read the sequel book 'Porno'!

glad you liked Gamer, Balton. The idea behind the "Slayers" is exactly that "mindless" in that they're not able to control themselves, hehe. They never really even explained how the game worked for the most part, lol.

Ninja Assassin - 8/10 - Finally I got to see ninja's done right, as I'd always imagined them when reading books like Eric Van Lustbader's The Ninja and The Miko.
