Every now and then when i play a game of INF or TO i hear rumours of players using radar :mad: . Can anyone tell me if this these rumours are true and perhaps have anything to do with the radar used in INF 2.75?

And furthermore, is this issue, when true, already being adressed in future versions of cshp?:D

greetz.

theres not a rumor, i had a prob using a mutator that was offline intended, but that made the normal INF radar appear in Multiplayer. however, i couldnt get rid of it. it was annyoning for 2 reasons:
1) it blocked a quarter of my screen
2) as the activities keep logged in servers, if Calvin saw it he could have ban/kicked me. so i reported this to [7oheve]SB, to tell FRAISER, one of Gamblexx admins, so he disble it in server-side. i think Calvin should know about it at this tima. btw, Olethros, the author of the muttie helped me, and the radar has gone. but, at least in INF, im the only kknow case of radar. and i would like to state that IT WAS NOT A CHEAT, JUST AN ODD HAPPENING THAT BUGGED ME OUT!

I have the Motion Detector mutator that is mainly for INFMonsters and I was on SOB and MUF last night and the radar was right there in the top left :( Gamblexx may have disabled it, but someone should get MUF and SOB to as it is a really unfair advantage if people use it. I turned it off, but some people might think it could be 'fun' to be able to see where the other team is.
Someone fix this please :(

...and then i saw the light...

bah, what a stupid ass i've been for all these months. Thinkin, wow these guys have great tactics, there's no route i can take, there waiting, there's no way i can sneak up on em from behind. Figures now. Got the radar running as well now, and every server runs it without any trouble.

hope that some admins pick this up and adress this issue serverside soon.

as far as i know, the radar prob came when the radar enhacement (sp???) was released, due to necessary modifications in the inf.ini file. and yes, its now disabled in Gamblexx and MUF/SOB know about it. and yes you can sneak behind them, and knife em... belive me :D

Allright, I've done some research into this-

The radar is by default disabled for dedicated command-line servers, you have to actually modify the server's inifiltration.ini file to enable it. If you start your server from within the GUI interface, just make sure the radar option isn't checked, especially when running a listen server, as when you have radar, the people who join can too.

Here are the infiltration.ini settings needed to make sure the radar is off on your server:

[InfiltrationUT.InfilWeapons]
bInfilAdminRadar=False (in version 2.85.x)
bInfilAdminRadarON=False (in version 2.86)

[INF_Core.INFUT_TPlayerInfo]
bAdminRadar=False
bPlayerRadar=False

Currently these are ALL set to FALSE on the SOB Official INF servers, and we don't run any mods for INF- so if someone can still use radar, I'd be very interested in just how they're doing it!

Also note that radar online doesn't really work in 2.85.x, one reason why the default settings are to disable it. It has been fixed in 2.86, and it is a server-side option. In all recent versions simply enabling it client-side has no effect on a server with it turned off.

All I did was change my ini file and voila, instant online radar. I also have the Motion Detector mutator. Would it matter if you used the Motion Sensor Mutator by cause I have it set always on because I play with INFMonsters all the time offline.

Hmmph.... yah, it must be the mutator that allows it to work... 2 of us tried it with simply modifying the ini file, and no go... I'm working with Beppo to get this solved, its a pretty dang big exploit IMHO, and I don't want it in INF 2.86!!!

The MUF servers have been updated as Daddybone has posted! We didn't know this problem existed before, or we would have taken the neccesary steps to aviod this! Although you guys say you loaded a mutator that allowed you to do this, I ask you to remove the mutator!

I removed the mutuator from my directory but I haven't been back online yet so I don't know if that was the problem. The thing was that on the servers who 'disabled' the radar the only change was that I couldn't turn it off or change the scale. I'll check again asap with the mutatior removed.
