When will such items such as bullet proof vests, binoculars, C4, and mines be appearing in Infiltration. I don't mean any particular date, I just am looking for an idea on how many updates away they are, or are they going to be in 3.0 (a long, long time away from now).

--and please people, don't reply to this saying things like "soon" or "when they do".

Thanks

Not sure how else to tell ya- except you'll probably see binocs first. We've got a lot of little things planned, but a lot of big things have to come first. The time we have for these little pieces really depends on what time we can find to include them. Since this is all work we do in our free time, it's hard to put down a solid schedule sometimes.

Do we really need binoculars? Not that many wide open maps have been made, and out of those none would lend itself to extensive use of binoculars.

Hey, don't you be trying to talk him out of binoculars.(That was my angry voice, like it? /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

There are plenty of areas when they would come in handy. Especially in cases when you are not sure whether the soldier lying prone is yours, a dead body, a log or another team. I can think of plenty or places to use them, expecially when maps like Bridge Too Far are used.

Ahh, but maybe the inclusion of binocs would incourage the use of more open maps?
I can think of many situations in which I wanted a better look at a target so I can ID it better. I like FF to be on and double checking your targets is essential.

Well if you are at such distance that you have to use binoculars to identify the target, and it turns out to be hostile, you're not going to be able to do a whole lot about it without a sniperrifle, and if you got a Robar or a PSG you have scopes... /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually...

You could run instead of getting closer to them to see if they are friend or foe. Then, you also know where the enemies are, instead of unidentified contacts.

the hk69 has a range of 400m. at that range it can be hard to distinguish friend or foe, depending on what skins you have picked.

actually i can still pick of targets from one side of the street to the other sied of the street on Extreme predjudice and that's quite a distance... and i use the mp5 for that, so you don't need a sniper rifl;e to hurt targets at such range... just aim carefully.

Don't forget

I think I read somewhere the binocs were supposed to have a range finder.. Combo that with a HK-69 and now they arent so useless..

Night vision. Some maps/map areas are too dark.

Having night vision just because some areas of maps are dark is rediculous. Just use a flashlight.

Actually Styx, I can think of many times you would want to do that. For example, when bulk is put in the game, I will probably not carry a sniper rifle. In those cases, I can use the Binocs to ID targets and determine the best approach.

Remember that when bulk is in, every weapon you carry makes you move slower. Soon, there will be many players who will give up the sniper rifle in order to gain back speed and mobility. And...no sniper, no scope.

I think Binocs are a must.

yeap, its kinda silly to lug around a 6kg rifle just to use its scope. that is if you had no other need for the rifle.

yeah but it gets to the point to where you put up the binocs and then you see its an enemy. had u brought a rifle, you could have shot him. put since he borught one ur dead.
and who familiar with these maps would confuse somehting for a log?
