Q's about setting up dedicated Lan server??

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. Hi all,

I am lucky enough to have some fast PC's @ home where I can call the boys over for some infiltration... in the past we have just had one of us host the game while we play... we are all running systems over 1ghz.. with GF2s and better, but I wonder if we will see better performance if we set up a dedicated server. I have an old Dell server I just got, its a dual Pentium Pro 200 with 256MB of ram and a couple 9 gig UW SCSI drives. Would this be a decent dedicated server, or am I better off just serving and playing on my 1.4ghz Tbird?

That dell rig should be fine for running a Inf dedicated server, When im testing my p3 network performance i usually set up a dedicated inf server on my dual p2 266 machine 128mb ata33 4.3gb hdd and i get a ping on my p3 of about 15. The server is only really busy when it is changing maps and as your dell has u/w SCSI it should be fine for loading them mapz of the hdd.
