and if you don't like embedded videos : http://www.roiheenok.com/video/mov/ggtv.mov

A friend of mine and i laughed our asses off watching this and wondering if these guys were serious.
You'll have to speak a bit of french to fully enjoy it, but even if you don't i think it's worth watching. For those who don't get what he's saying, this dude has taken the gangsta rap attitude, multiply it by 10, and then litteraly translated it to french canadian.
I wonder if quebec has many rappers like him.

Worse. He's rapping in Quebecois. The only thing potentially weirder? Rap, in Louisiana patois.

I find it incredibly pathetic when people coming from middle-class homes and low-crime neighborhoods attempt to rap. Especially dudes from outside the US. You suck at it. Cut it out.

Who cares if they suck at it? They're just people singing the kind of music that they enjoy listening to. Why does it matter that they are wealthy and don't lynch and rob people? If they feel like escaping from their reality by engrossing themselves in the music of a vastly different culture, more power to them. I'm willing to bet that everyone on this forum as at some point been into music that isn't "for" them. Besides, since when did it become not-okay to take an interest in other cultures?

Hey, I'm a colored guy who lives in a shitty little black-heavy suburb and I can't sing worth a damn. Are you going to start labeling me "pathetic" for liking and singing "white" music? God forbid. I better go back to "my people" and listen to "their" music, like I'm supposed to.

Music is music. People can listen to whatever the fuck they want.

I find it offensive when people like 50 cent attempt to rap, I dont care if he's been shot, doesn't give him the right to make bad music. As XXX said (or whatever he's calling himself now), it doesn't matter where they come. If someone who is white and rich wants to rap, they should rap about things they know about, or make a decent story.

I have no problem with what you are talking about, but he crosses the line between enjoying a different culture and acting like he comes from that culture. It's always disturbing to see some kid act like a hood when his parents make six figures apiece.

Hey! I'm a black guy who came used to live in a ****ty little black-heavy working class neighborhood and I can't sing worth a damn either. I used to listen to rock occasionally, but I sure as hell wasn't singing a song about trying to kill myself or using heroin... BECAUSE I NEVER TRIED TO KILL MYSELF OR USED HEROIN.

People can be posers too, nobody is stopping them.

Kuro has a point in some ways. Remember Vanilla Ice with his Ice ice baby? Or Snow with Informer? It's music without soul, only trying to make a buck on something someone else made popular. But that's not something that exists in only rap. Remember Aqua and their Barbie girl? Britney Spears anyone?

However, for me the difference between good and terrible isn't wheter you're from the US or not or wheter you're black or white. It's where the music comes from, no matter what genre it is. In lack of a better word, soul. Something more than some cleverly assembled chords. Sure, a catchy tune may grasp me, but if it's so slippery that I can't hold on to it, it's gone within seconds.

I'm quite sure this made no sense whatsoever. I'm not very good at explaining myself at 3 in the morning.

So if white folks can't rap, does this mean blacks can't play the bagpipes?

Wow. I have a friend who'll be SO disappointed to hear this.
