Problem installing .exe version

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I downloaded the .exe version for UnWheel and I have a problem installing it. When it is extracting the files it will stop somewhere around 20%-29%. I then the the error Failed to extract <filename> where filename varies (but always a map). I thought I had a corrupt download, so I downloaded again, but I keep the same problem.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem, make sure you have over 1 gig of free hard drive space, UnWheel MSU is 1 gig uncompressed and you also need enough space on your hard drive for your windows swap file.

I have plenty of space, I have over 3 GB free. The installer even checks if there is enough free space, so that should not be a problem I guess.
Have you given the zip a try?

I didn't try the zip. I don't really like zips, its a hell to remove a mod if you don't like it, so I prefer UMOD's of exe's.

But I finally figured out what the problem was. The problem was that I did not have enough space on my C: drive. The weird thing is that I have the setup.exe on the D: drive and I am installing to the F: drive. I found out because I got a balloon popup that said that space was getting low on C:.

I could not create more than 900MB of free space on my C: drive so I had to change the settings for temporary folders to another drive.

I think it would be nice if the installer could extract directly to the place where the stuff is supposed to go. Now I need over 1GB on my C: drive for temp stuff that could have gone directly to the game dirs.

Anyway, problem solved and the mod is looking good :)

you either have a small hard drive, or need to reformat bad. My C: drive is only 30gigs and I still have 50% free. Ofcourse I reformat every 6 months and keep my mp3's and installers on a 12.5gig slave drive. The only thing on my C: drive is the OS and installed apps. I save all downloads to the slave drive.
I'm going to get a 80gig drive after the holidaze are gone, and setup a raid controller so I can run 4 hard drives at once. :D
Set your internet cash to 10-20megs, and history to 0 days also. This will free up about 500megabites

*EDIT*
When I say reformat, I mean do it the right way, write 0's to the entire drive, then reinstall the OS.

And turn off system restore, that takes up a ton of memory. I have a 200gig ;)
