I like the idea of the Biorifle, Grenade Launcher, & Spidermines as a Canister Gun.

Then I thought how about this idea that Epic can do, make the Rocket Laucher & Avril as 1 launcher(good for long/close range combat). The Shock Rifle, Link, & Lightning Gun as 1 energy rifle(good for long/mid range). And also the Shield gun & Flak as a cannon (good for close range weapon).

Also to me, it may also help with changing weapons alot faster, And leave more key less need to be use.

What's do you think?

yeah 'huh?' indeed. I only need 2 keys for my weapons (prev/next weapon).
Besides ... not every map has every weapon, so it's not like you need a dozen keys to select all available weapons anyway.

Trying to combine multiple guns into one just doesn't make sense. Might as well just elimate all weapons until there's just 4 left (melee / short range aka shotgun / long range aka sniperrifle / indirect fire weapon aka cannistergun ). However that would be just one step away from the ultimate boredom in fps games (instagib aka no weapons).

In fact I really hope that the cannister-gun idea is just a way of telling us that there'll be a mutator that can easily replace the goo-gun with spidermines (or vice versa or any other switch), while still keeping the models for those guns unique. Because replacing all those weapons with a single weapon-model is just boring.

In fact I'd love to see even more specialised weapons in the next-gen games.
The only problem is that inevitably a lot of mappers would feel obliged to fill their maps with the entire bloomin' arsenal.

Re: duct- taping all the weapons together into about 4 models. Nah, I don't like it. It would make combat kind of dull, I think.

On the other hand -- I'd like to see some crazy ammo types for the Canister Gun. What about...

- Poison gas and napalm (As Seen On XMP!)

- Chaff :). AVRiLs tracing LOS to a vehicle through a chaff cloud would lose their lock. Would add something to the concept of infantry support.

- Smoke. Why not? Smoke is fun.

- Health pickup. Keep that attack going strong. MEDIC!!!!!!

- High explosive. Goofy nadelauncher/ googun style arc trajectory, explodes on first contact and deals splash damage.

Ok so the idea sucks, but why is Epic puting the Biorifle, Grenade Launcher, & Spidermines as one weapon?

I'd maybe go with the Shield Gun, Grenade Launcher, & Spidermines. Or even the Shield Gun & Biorifle as one weapon. Plus the Grenade Launcher & Spidermine as another.

That's a very good point, and I can't really say I'm happy about my beloved snot gun losing its identity... to say nothing of it getting lumped in with spidermines. :p

I don't see what the big deal is with putting spider mines, grenades, and bio into one gun. It's basically the same thing as having a different weapon for each. The mapper can contol which ammo canisters he wants on a map. Besides I prefer this to having one weapon model for spider mines, one weapon for grenades, and so forth.

You do? Because, uh... I don't >_>

I just think it looks a hell of a lot better as separate models. I loved the Bio-Rifle model. I loved the Mine Layer model. The Grenade Launcher model was a little meh, but it was individual :)

Individuality ftw.
