In my opinion, don't try anything else. Get Photoshop. Don't worry about layers, colours, etc. Just don't use them. When you're ready, then use them. It's better and you will get to use Photoshop more, and get more experienced.
    ;)

    Yes, for filter crazy monkeys.
I'd say if you seriously want to do graphics design that you should start on traditional media.

The basics of photoshop are easy to learn, yes.

But of course, there's a lot more to photoshop than messing around with filters and adding 1-2 layers to your pic.

    Excellent graphics editing program ^_^

Yeah, layers are pretty useful. Once I started using them in the GIMP, I said, "wow, I can do more with this program than just swap my friends' heads around!"

Photoshop, I gather, runs a lot faster, though.

The pen tool is probably one of the most difficult tools to master ^_^ imho
Control, that is. Making sure you cut the image you want out nicely.
And doing it pretty fast, and accurate.

The first week(s) (or so) you tend to miss quite a lot :O) but once you master it, it becomes a real joy using it.

I got a question...i got a photoshop trial with image ready but most of the stuff is greyed out at the top...i go learn the basics on the good tutorials website but one of the options on it is greyed out, is that because it's only a trial?

That's strange. I've never d/l'ed the trial before, but it's supposed to be a timed but otherwise fully-functional version of the retail product.

Many of the tools can't be used in low color settings. If you're in indexed colors (256 colors, basically), try hitting Image -> Mode > RGB Color.

Or maybe you're inside a vector layer, so you can't use raster tools, and so forth.

Looks like He registred 2/3 years ago , and now post like hell.

I got a remove of 1000 post count for that (+1) and now i am at 4.52 post per day. That's growing , but at least, the majority of my post are good.

Now , is it me or Swarthy_Foreskin only post to post GIF :p

They deleted 1000 of your posts counts for that?
is that all you posted to get this punishment?

hmmmm. that is kind of a pointless thing to post by itself.
