photoshop question

hey guys I want to know, I am taking an image from its background (using the pen free form tool). The first image worked like its supposed to but the second image it only paste a line of the pen free form, anyone know why wont it paste the image?

Ok nevermind I found out the problem but another problem shows itself. How do I replace images for ex. I have 2 guys I want to put on the sig, how do I put one on the left side and one on the right side. (instead of all of them going in the middle?)

ok screw it all I found out. :D now I spent some time making my very own sig so will you guys critique it for me. Remember this is my first attempt.

okay I just ran into a delima. ok here goes, how do I put another texture over another without deleting another texture. For ex. I have a guy as the main texture but I want to put a foreign weapon in his balled up fist, but dont want it to lay over his fist "showing that he's not holding it. I tried looking on pixel2life but I didnt know even how to phrase it right to search for an anwser it. So if any one can help thanks in advance.
