My photoshop is screwed up because of something I did, but I’m not 100% sure what I did. The problem is this: When I create a new file/page whatever you call it, the page is hot pink. When I import a picture or open a picture, the entire picture has this hot pink tint to it.

Here’s what I remember: I was trying to work with or create a GIF where parts had an invisible background. I usually use another program to do this, and I'll make the invisible parts hot pink, or some other color like hot green or whatever to make the invisible parts more pronounced.

I thought I imported a pic and then told photoshop to make the invisible parts hot pink, but I’m not sure if I did this or not. It’s been like 2 or 3 months ago that I did all this. Anyway, even when I create a new page and tell it I want the background white, it still makes this pink overlay on the page.

I tried opening a pic and editing it, saving it and seeing what the results were, and the edit takes place, and the saved pic looks normal; no hot pink overlay when I view it in another program.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t try to create a mask and make the masked parts hot pink, but I suppose I could have by accident. I’m pretty sure I was just trying to make the invisible areas more noticeable.

Any ideas what I may have done and how I can get rid of this pink overlay?

@ReD_Fist: If this problem only occurs while running photoshop, then my guess is that it's nothing concerning hardware.

My guesses:
-color profile
-quick mask
-maybe the presets of creating a new file
-...

Here’s a screenshot of photoshop in action. Notice on the left where it shows the pink and black for the foreground and background colors. Also notice that I change the RGB to 255, 255, 255 for white and that still doesn’t work. Also note that the hexadecimal color equivalent is #ffffff which is supposed to be white, and that doesn’t get things back to white.

In this second screenshot, I drew an X across the picture and you see how that looks in photoshop.

In the last pic, I opened it up in another program and you can see that pic has the X drawn through it, and it looks normal.

So, maybe it is some sort of mask or whatever. I probably have a month of very limited photoshop experience, so I haven’t explored many tools.

No idea, I don't get the Adobe Photoshop transparency channel. Though I do have episodes 7 and 9 on CD.
A good place to ask for help would be the 3dBuzz forums, or click on "Help" at the top of your screen. The penguin on your telly will now explode...

Looks pretty weird:/
The fact that you can view the image perfectly in another program excludes the possibility of monotone or other format issues. I think this might be some kind of error in the software.

Have you tried to re-install PS yet?

I think that you set up a profile that turned the background/invisible part pink. I'm not sure where you could do that in the profile but try looking to see if kyou are using a custom profile.

I'm no Photoshop expert, but it seems that "I told photoshop to make the invisible parts hot pink" is the key here. Normally, the invisible layer is a checkered white/gray texture. So there must be a way to reset the invisible layer to default.

Have you tried various Photoshop discussion boards?
