Hmm, I got a message from them yesterday. Haven't had a chance to respond yet...

What exactly do you need to do to/with the code though? Should be just a matter of modifying UWSCar to report the vehicle physics info to your UDP script or something?

Maybe PM me and we can go into a little more detail about what exactly you need ;).

Well, it's a bit more than that. I'd most likely need to make a mutator that extends off of your PlayerController class, as it would also need to fix the camera in first person view and not be able to move the camera with the mouse. You wouldn't have to change anything with the mod, all the code would be done on my end. :)

Ok, sure, go for it. :D

I'd just like to know how it turns out in the end, if they put it into a machine or something. I'll still email them back anyway and get a better idea of what's going on, how UnWheel will be used, etc etc.

In all honesty though, I would not risk my life in an UnWheel simulator :p. It's a bumpy enough ride on-screen :p.

Good luck :)

Basically, they sell the simulator, and give them plugin-type things to get some games working with it. So for this they'd go buy UT2004, download UnWheel, then use this mutator to be able to play it on the simulator (the simulator connects to a PC). :)

And personally, I'd purposely crash into a tree in UnWheel. ;)

I don't think so.

They're basically just making a mutator for the standard UW release, and rather than playing it on a normal PC, they play it in a motion simulator :D.

Not really extracting or re-using the content.

surely they're using it for a commercial use though? Not that I care, I think it'd be cool to play UnWheel in a motion simulator

I don't think I'd want to be strapped to one of those things while playing a big air map, that could be dangerous

I don't have a dime in in it, but I agree.....If put my time into a game like UW, and some one wants to mutate it into an arcade game....Well, I want 10-20% of every quater put into that slot! I also think that 10-20% should be split up umung the UW team according to each members role in the development of the game regardless if their map/car/code is being used in the arcade form or not. After all, it took all of you to make UW what it is today. Ofcourse I wouldn't pay someone that just made a map becouse their into the game, you'ld have to be part of the development team.
The UW team has my permission to use my music for UW deveopment only....Out side of that, we'll need to talk ;) You (Shrimp) need to see it in the same light.
Question.....Don't they need a licence to do this???? Surely they can cut you a rolity check..... After all, it's the UT2k4 engine, but your code.....Better copywrite it ASAP!!!!! 95% of the music in my folder on Jerdago's server is (the rest I try not to clame LOL  )......

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the customers are not using the motion simulators for commercial use like arcades etc, but I'll ask just to be sure.

Also, just to clarify, InMotion isn't selling UnWheel with the simulators. The customer has to buy UT2004 and download UnWheel separately, InMotion will just provide this mutator to get it to work with the simulator.

and what does udp stand for anyway?

eh? i thought only filesharing programs used udp because it is such an unreliable protocol or something and it doesnt need to establish connections and stuff.... i seriously thought 'udp' in this case meant something else, using a network protocol to communicate between a motion simulator and a computer is surely strange... is this motion sim thing a network device of some sort? then it can be used in things that are far beyond games...like you can use it in conjunction with gigabit ethernet to stream movies to it and you get to have cinema-style moving chair sensations... well, the really expensive cinemas that incorporate moving chairs, that is...

so the sim thing just takes data , and it happens to be in a form very similar to udp packets, and it behaves like a one way device not unlike a monitor attached to the video card... ah so its not a network device after all...or something
