Anyone considered adding pedestrians to maps in the next version? It would be real interesting to be playing tdm and walking though an airport or office full of innocent people. :instagib:

For one thing, players would be less trigger happy. If you are walking down a hallway and you know where your teamates are, you shoot at anything you see moving in the distance. What if blow away the janitor or some family. Many maps for inf 2.9 are very realistic minus people. A cunning player could even use the crowds as cover or camo. I think it could add another very important demension of realism.

I also think that there would be no team of player penalty for shooting civie's, but i think it would be funny to maybe put a skull next to the persons name similar to TKing. It would be funny to see people with rep of being a civilian killer.

Now i realize there would be limits on the number npc's and some programing would be nesscary to simulate what certain types of people would dowhen bullets start flying, but i you are running the source engine then you have a good rig anyway.

Why would people be less triggerhappy with civillians around if there's no penalty for killing one? In real life there are penalties for killing people. If you want the realism you say you seek, wouldn't it only be fair to have a penalty for killing a civillian ingame too?

I'm just waiting for the day someone asks for a Dog to be added in game that humps your leg and slowly drains your health via said humpage until you die.

Why do all the penalties in this game have to involve not-playing?

Because this is the only thing people care about. Who cares if I loose a 100 points or something but prevent me playing a round or two then yea I wuold be carefull.

Come up with a meaningfull penalty.

A meaningful penalty?

The same as FF. Loose all your points/fraggs.

I'm mortally afraid of Team Killing, and very sorry when I do so. In the confusing field of battle however, sometimes these things happen. while loosing ALL my fraggs is surely annoying (those times I have frags to lose :p) I'm still going to be part of the game next round. Thus still getting to participate in the fun.

There are few things more boring in INF than dying early in a round (or never participating in one) then have to watch 5+ minutes of players stalking around. Obviously this is the weakness of the "round based" game, but IMHO a very acceptable one. Compared to the random mess that is Respawning.

You didn't play INF, you played INF-TDM.

You are correct. I must say I also agree with the sarcasm found in your post. It wasn't really "Infiltration" it was random fragging. Either way loosing all fraggs/points for TeamKilling is appropriate.

I stand corrected.

I still think that most players would try hard not to hit the "semi-autonomous mobile targets" just because of the neg publicity and a sense of honor (hopefully). There is more than one right way to do it, but i think that instituting a penalty would hurt the game. ;)

However, i can see situations where where a cold blooded soldier might shoot someone in order to cause a crowd to stampede in order to accomplish an objective. Although maybe the same effect could be accomplished by shooting the ground near a npc's feet.

Honour? INF?

I think someone is playing a different simulator than me.

I found Inf players to be cold blooded, single minded, calculating bastards.

What happens if a soldier kills a civilist? Millitary court, or judgement thingy. So if one killed a civilist, other players are those who judge. At the screen you will have a huge, embarassing information of who killed a civilist and you decide in a vote to throw him out of the game for several minutes, or rounds. If he tries to reconnect, the penalty should stil affect him.

If this guy didn't saw the civilist, no penalty, except explosives.

Don't mind Derelan. It is that time of the month.

Shan, you know as well as I do that it's always that time of the month for him.

Haha, apparently SOMEONE hasn't met 90% of the members of DbD.
