After viewing UE3 demo, reading interviews and EPIC's website on the engine and lots of other stuff I have come to the conclusion that the specs for ENVY are going to be something in the following lines...

    CPU: HAL 9000
    GPU: Enterprise Holodeck
RAM: (I will need some help here)
    Network: Skynet (from terminator 3)

what are your thoughts on the subject?

    <EDIT>
Here is some info that seems relevant to ENVY specs:

Tim Sweeny commenting on the use of true concurrent threads for UE3 while taking advantage of the new dual core CPUs

Tim Sweeny commenting on the new PPUs (Physics Processing Units)

Nope but you will need it to help the game engine in some calculations :D

My thoughts on the subject can be found here:
    http://www22.verizon.com/fiosforhome/channels/fios/root/package.asp

Specifically, within a couple of years broadband is going to be getting broader (in places other than Sweden, I mean  ) after 5 years or so of consumer bandwidth staying relatively static. If rumored plans for on- demand TV over IP are any indication, Verizon's fiber- optic lines may just be the tip of the iceberg. This may be happening a little late for the next iteration of UT, but the idea of a general increase in the amount of server -> client -> server data transmission capability makes me all goosepimply.

(For comparison's sake, the second rate plan listed in that link would offer me 5 times the downstream and almost 10 times the upstream as what I have now for the same price.)

But yeah, UT games have always been system hogs. Better start saving your cash now.

And you can trust Belgacom Skynet (Belgium) to continue imposing a 10 GB/month even when the line speeds go up to 10 Mbits/s :D .

Blein: The minimum specs aren't available yet. The game is still in a very early stage and prolly won't be released for another 1.5 - 2 years. But I figure the minimum will be today's top of the line pc's. So you better take that extra paper round and start saving. :D

kafros is just taking the piss :)

    1) UC2 is a console title. Deal with it. If you want to play it, buy it with an xbox, it'll cost the same as a decent version of windows and a ram upgrade.
    2) PhysX will not be mandatory, it will be supported.

Please, search the forums for PhysX and for UC2 - you will find ALOT of information that will answer your concerns.

*newsflash* ... making money is the #1 goal of any business ;)

And as for 'requiring' a PPU to play ... I doubt they go that far.

Dude...April fools day was 3 days ago. I doubt anyone will believe your info.

As a non-English speaker, I normally don't complain about other people's grammar, but in your case I have to make an exception, because your second "reason" is so hard to read I have to guess what you're trying to say.

Kinda like the ring of "many money" though...;)

Try a translation site like this to translate from your native language to English, works quite well :)

    yeh, what about that PPU?

PPU is interesting, but not necessary (at least, we hope).

The game has just started development and you people are asking specs already?

Pardon me whilst I

Also as far as the UC2 on pc comment above...

UC2 would suck ass on the PC. It's designed for console gameplay. The videos and such make it look real cool but how many of you have actually played it? It's slow, dull, and boring compared to the hectic fast-paced action of UT, UT2k3, and UT2k4.

I'd imagine it's going to require some serious computer hardware. Probably what melobee said. The minimum system requirements will probably be what the top of the line pc's are today. After seeing all this unreal 3 engine stuff, i'm considering waiting to upgrade my crappy pc around the time the next unreal is out.
