Well I was able to play last night. I got through the airboat part and was totally blown away by the game. But now I can't log into Steam after Half-Life: Source borked my computer so bad that I had to do a system restore So here's where that needing-to-be-connected-to-Steam-to-play thing comes to bite you in the ass: can't connect? Can't play.

I played it months ago, I can wait a few more days now.

Smash all the planks out of the way under the bridge and walk through. Do the smashing via blowing up the barrels with a few pistol rounds

Has anyone managed to play this thing offline yet?

I know it first needs to be registered but after following the instructions on the 'quick reference card' it says that it should be. but right clicking on hl2 from within steam it says that its 'not ready' despite it being at 100%

any ideas?

not true, once its unlocked. you can start steam in OFFLINE MODE and play it all you want.

Whats with those mine things that roll towards you (after the buggy bit). Currently I'm using the grav gun to punt them out to sea, but then get tonked by a load of guys, should I be punting them over into the overwatch guys instead?

yeah it isn't exactly a walk in the park according to steampowered.com. Why couldnt steam just have a "offline" button in the client?

I need help, Im in Nova Prospekt.

Im not that far into the place but im in a spot where there seems to be no doors or pathways to progress, and there are 2 gunships circling me that seem to keep healing themselves somehow (There smoke from when I lauch a rocket at them dissapers when they go out of view and come back in, but I just keep hammering them with RPGs and nothing happens)

Nevermind, had to destroy both of the gunships. Note: 2 Gunships = Death, many many times.

Those already on are fine, log off and try to get back on and you won't be able to.

Half-Life 2 is the worst retail release in history. Nothing about this game has worked so far.

I spent 7 hours with the pre-load and downloading the updates and then half life 2 starts but crashs. So I restart and I haven't been able to get back onto steam since.

I want my money back. Everyone deserves to have this game for free because it doesn't work.
