    Introduction
    We are a small focused team, currently developing a mod for unreal tournament 3. Currently we are 8 members from different countries and areas of expertise.

    We are very organized and this is not our first mod, and as such, we intent to recruit someone who can assume the position in a professional way.

    We don't want to give too much detail about the mod, that is why we haven't setup a moddb website, because we believe that adding another mod to the moddb doesn't make it successful, what makes it successful is our effort put on the mod everyday, and if you join us you will be able to see that, since our website is very complete and shows all the activity on the mod.

    Project Details

    • Cooperative;
    • Dark and Scary ambient;
    • Coherent story;
    • Based on 19th century with some goodies;
    • Art direction is "plausible" steampunk tech w/ Lovecraftian horror elements set in the 19th century.

    Completed Tasks
    We are not asking for a person without giving details about what we have, even though we don't want to give too much detail about the project, that doesn't mean that its not planned.

    As such, we have an internal website, with forums, activity monitoring, project management, SVN and wiki setup. The wiki has both tutorials for new members and the design document.

    We've divided our project into modular phases, the first of which is basic technology demo showcasing the fundamental direction of the game. Also, our goal is to enter the MSUC (Make Something Unreal Contest) on May 15th, and we have already begun creating assets for various competition categories. We are a focused team and our Phase I goals are designed as a baseline measure of the capability of our concept artists, modelers, and programmers.

    Desired Skills
    The ideal candidate has experience with unrealed and is motivated to get things done in a very carefuly and well thought way, but we welcome candidates of all experiences, as long as they are motivated and willing to learn. Should have dedication and be willing to learn, since our plan is to have a fully playable map by 10th of May.

    Should be able to meet us on skype at least once every two days to discuss important matters and to update the status of the level. You can be independent or as involved in the creative process as you like. There is no hierarchical structure, but you are expected to operate as a "black box" and coordinate with people who are directly above and below you in your work pipeline.

    Will be responsible for building the first gameplay map, with an overall structure so it can be tested with our custom AI, and see if it fits our intended gameplay.

    The phase 1 map will be a sewer based area, where the sketches for gameplay and several concept arts are already done and the models are on their way, so you can start creating the map as soon as you join us.

    Kismet skills are a plus, and so is modeling experience (for small props / textures), but not an essential skill.

    Pro tip: Hiding details about your mod serves no purpose. Nobody is going to steal your ideas, mainly because if they had the means to they would already be working on another mod. Most people want more information about a mod before they will email about their interest.

    So please, post details. It sounds interesting. :)

    Absolutly love the detailed artwork you've got there! I've joined another MSUC team as a leveldesigner, so I gotta pass on this. Good luck with the search!

    Hello everyone,

    As requested, we decided to write a small overview of the mod, but bear in mind that we have a lot more planned, although not carved in stone; what is shown here is, however, result of great discussion and therefore the solid core of the mod.

    Overview
    Liber 418 is a 3rd person multiplayer horror action-adventure modification for Unreal Tournament 3, focusing on cooperative gameplay in a dark, nefast and mystic environment.

    Action is set in the late 19th Century. The players are members of a group joined by fate in the struggle to rid the world of an evil society of priests of the mystic and dark arts, which uses undead and creatures of occult to fight for them.
    Although varied, the environments are dark, with a mystic and eerie feeling to it, evocations of pagan and occult themes and symbols are always present, all this mixed with the artistic intricacies of steam punk styles.

    The players have to explore the environments in search of clues and knowledge on the occult society and how to defeat it, always wary of the dangers lurking at every shadow. Teamwork is a must, the challenges (parallel puzzle-solving) and enemies (swarms of creatures, e.g., rats) emphasizing a need for union and coordination, and the class-like division of playable characters, where each character’s strengths (both in terms of skills- and weapons-set) compensate the weaknesses of the others, denotes this crucial gameplay feature.

    So, primary features are:
    • Multiplayer coop;
    • Focus on teamwork;
    • Dark, scary environments, yet stylish and appealing;
    • Brainy challenges, in the form of puzzles;
    • Brainless challenges, in the form of large numbers of not-so-smart enemies;
    • Realistic epoch weapons, as well as unique, not-so-real weapons, yet with a realistic scientific mechanics.

    Thanks,
    Nuno Ramiro

    Are you still looking for a mapper? If so, please PM me asap. I'm a new level designer, but not new to the VG industry. Anyway, hit me up, if you're still in need.
