    cool story bro?

My point was simply, you did not notice the news post, and that furthers the point I was making by whatever small amount. Also, I'm helping you by pointing it out, you can make your suggestions and discussion where everyone else is discussing the same thing. ;)

People can still read and find stuff just as easily in the other system.

It wouldn't ruin any such plans, it would only further them. If your post was at the top of the games section then it would get even more views and discussion that than, maybe even twice as much. :D

    So what's the problem again?

Their is more to running/hosting a site than bandwidth/storage as I am sure you remember not too long ago when you used to run scripts to calculate file names/sizes/dates that put a huge strain on the server your site(s) were hosted on and you had to do something about it.

Not trying to attack you, but as the admins here have said; not everyone can host sites on shared hosting.

I think you'll have better luck posting this on the UT board. This one is just for site issues.

Bit late, but that still deserved an answer.

You are correct on that, it was a big issue at that time. I had to take that script ofline due to the stress on the servers CPU it took. And i am far from a website maintenance expert, so i can only gues what happened.

Fact is we both started using that script and on your site it was running just fine. On my site i noticed it took ages till the website pulled the list of files, while yours it happened in a blink of an eye. My website was running php4 and also has the possibility to switch to php5. Not being a professional i never dared to switch to php5 because i could not oversee the effects it might have.

The script i used was the old version for php4, while yours is version 5. I have no idea, as said i dont know too much about it, but that might have been the reason.

The reason i thought it was the old version rather than the website, is because the CPU is not capped. Dispite its not allowed to exceed a certain limit its not being capped, and i asume the CPU would have been able to simply run it flawless, unless the old version is buggy on the reasources it eats. As said, all theoretical, and i cant claim its not because of low cost host.

Haha, that is awesome. It happened because we lost a big chunk of forum data between 2006 and 2008.

That no longer happens, thanks. It's at least the normal BU now... but still not mobile friendly.

I'm just so addicted to refreshing BeyondUnreal.com many times per day in hopes of catching the semi-weekly news post that I now have to do it when I'm not at a computer!
