I did one last photo shoot with Barbie. I was fortunate to have about an hours time with her just a few days before she left for Taiwan.

I miss her already!

These where from a shoot done over the week end. Shots 1-6 are of a few friends who volunteered. Shots 7-12 are of me and will be a Christmas gift to my fiance. I know she will dig it.

Sometimes you get good photography ideas from the movies. There are a few movie influences in here. :)

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Hoping to get my fiance in a themed shoot next month... but there are many more shoots to do until then. More Valentines day shoots on there way!

Lighting for the shots:
Sunlight - Usually behind the subject for the rim light effect
Two flashes - One on the left and one on the right. 5-10 Degree angle to the subjects front. Not in perfect parallel to each other. Flashes are controlled via wireless trigger.
Bounce dish was used sometimes for fill.

007MIKE- I LOVE the new shots! The backlighting on the 1st one is awesome. I want to experiment with backlighting but don't really have a lighting kit or flash to work with. Any suggestions?

Hey, BBA, is that photo (and the other framed ones on your flickr) actually done on a polaroid camera, or is the frame just photoshopped in?

I've got a cheapish polaroid that I haven't used for years due to the expensive film, but I would quite like the oportunity to use it more often. The prints from mine definately aren't as vibrant as those from yours though, but is that due to the camera, film, or postprocessing of the picture? - Obviously I can't expect amazing print from a cheap camera, but I wanted to know your opinion on what would affect the quality most, seeing as not many people seem to use instant camera's that much.

No those are real Polaroid shots. I shoot them with a SX-70 camera. It's a SLR polaroid camera. How bad ass is that right?:)

The film is expensive, but I have a stash of it and you can buy it in bulk off Ebay. I do Photoshop color, constrast, and levels a bit, and sometimes saturation, but this shot just needed the constrast brought up a bit. I basically didn't do much to it. I also used a tripod as I shot it in low light without a flash. I shoot with 600 film and use to 2 ND filter to compensate for the exposure difference between Time Zero Film which is what SX-70s are ment to use. 600 film is a faster film, so i have to dim the light with the filter. Basically like sunglasses for my camera. :p

Don't count out cheap cameras just yet. They usally have very interesting qualities that people would normally count as a flaw.

Ok, cool. My camera uses 600 film, which is still available to buy online, and I'd like the chance to get some more use out of it, but with film at that price, you can't really afford to make too many mistakes, which Is one of the major drawbacks. My camera isn't really designed for photography, seeing as you have no control over the aperture or shutter speed, so using in some situations may be a challege, but I'm still willing to give it a go. :)
