Thanks for the comments, everyone!

I don't really do urban exploration myself, but I really enjoy looking at pics of that sort. Btw we have a group on BuF about that; I'll go ahead and invite you to it. :p (It's not really that active, though...)
Thanks! Yeah, like I said, you can take really interesting pictures in abandoned/ruined buildings.

Nearly a year ago they tore down a large building on the road to school. At one point the site looked just like it came right out the "dark future" parts of the Terminator movies. I could kick myself in the head for never bringing my photocamera along and hopping off the bus to take pictures there.

I took my new lens and my new 30D out to a local park/creek today. And Damn! That water was freakin cold. Creek photography is no joke. ;)

I need to get a polarizer for this lens.

Wow. I'm not much into HDR, but 13 files sound a lot. What's the average filesize of a HDR picture?

hmm... I can't say for sure, as I exported the files with various exposition to TIFF keeping original photo resolution (42mb per file) and the resulting file I also saved as TIFF, so it was the same 42Mb.

I didn't have the balls to set up the tripod + camera in the midst of all the less-than-friendly people, so no HDR shots of Peter's city centre for me. :(

Well, shooting across the road is not good for HDR too, that's why I used RAW-file to make it. When you open RAW file in Photoshop, you can change the exposure there. Of course traditional method of multiple photos beats using single RAW-file, but it's better then nothing.

Thanks! Yes, indeed, it was shot on a really cold morning. If you have the time for it you should try it too, because you can shoot really nice close-ups when everything is covered with a layer of frost.
All of the pictures in my previous post were shot during sunrise, by the way.

cold as in cold enough to experience difficulty manipulating the camera because of stiff fingers, cold enough that your hands feel as if they're on fire when you get back home, and cold enough that not even the cat wants to go and play outside. In other words, really cold (for Belgian standards, might I add, which isn't an unimportant detail :) ).
