I think these links might interest you guys. They are all basically related to the same thing.

http://www.emureactor.dk/forum/boards/viewtopic.php?t=2586
http://www.copyright.gov/1201/
http://www.gamasutra.com/
http://forums.edgeemu.com/viewtopic.php?t=3026 (more links within first post)

Basically from what I'm reading, it seems that now, emulation of older of systems is somewhat now considered.....how can I say......legal. :eek2:

And this has nothing to do with this topic, just some art work sort of.

Well, I try to be a man of truth and I hate pranks like that so I'm not trying to pull anybody's leg. I'm only sending the info I read. Don't kill the messenger if its bad news.

Though, I doubt the site would be a .gov and not be true, unless its some odd halloween trick or something else.

Not wanting to be the party pooper here, but while it may (or may not) be legal, its still a violation of forum rules I believe.

*looks at mods for confirmation*

It's ok to circumvent copy protection and e.g. make ROM images now. That dosn't mean you can switch into ROM galore mode and DL till your modem catches fire. The copyright is untouched by this.

And how exactly is this against forum rules?

I thought we had strict anti-warez rules here. Rom's and emulation has always been frowned upon, but because of the nature of the post, I didnt know, so I left it. Hence the *looks at the mods for confirmation* part.

I somehow lost a 'possibly' in my post. The last line is supposed to look like this:

Well, the forum rules still haven't changed, so it would be against the forum rules. But because of this, they can lighten up on it.

Not being able to post rom sites and etc here wont be a big problem, I can usually find what I want. I'm just sorta mentioning that some of those links could now be allowed here with out problem. Though, I understand if true warez links shouldn't be allowed here(I.E. PC game copies)

We aren't censored from the topic, just from discussion of using or acquiring them. This is more about trying to decipher the ruling than the roms themselves.

If it's not against the law, then it's not warez and not anything BU has to censor then. What am I missing here?

"Warez, pornography, etc. are not tolerated and may get you banned, and so on"... well if it's not considered warez anymore, what's the problem?
