When my boy was 5 he had Super Mario Bros. It was a major accomplishment just for him to jump a cavern. :)

Heh, my girl really likes to watch my play so I teached her how to play ut2003 against bots. It's hard to believe how fast a 6 year old can learn new things. Within few hours she was kicking novice bots arses. Fun ended when the wife found out about it. Now we're back playing Crash Bandicoot again :)

    Actually, yeah, gore is on.

But I did remember to turn off mature taunts after he copied "Hold still dammit".. course, he said, "Hold still cabbage!"

    So it's all good.

I suspect he grasps the concept of double jumping due to him probably playing console games where so many characters double jump.

    Actually, ... hrm.. perhaps.

We have Mario Party 5 (board/minigames) & Mario Smash Brothers (fighting game with Nintendo characters) - and he does well on the Smash Brothers (Captain Falcon is his favorite).

That's pretty cool. "You out" :D

    :p

Yeah, she's pretty good. She understands how to play, at least she did. I don't let her play anymore because:

    a) she's not interested in playing bots
    b) she only wants to play real people
    c) kids online have filthy mouths and she's way too young for that

I used to let my son Erik play some cartoonetwork.com flash games, but he got into the habit of just clicking on stuff to get it to run and he screwed up my settings, that was the end of that. Now he sits on my lap when I play ONS and tells me to drive the Raptor and "put out the wings" and "be careful or you'll break them off".
