A lot of EBM stretches into synthpop and futurepop which obviously use elements from pop.

I love this song. Do not filthy it by calling it cheese.

Alexandra Stan is from my motherland :') I wish I said 'freak' like her.

I almost exclusively listen to Pure Reason Revolution. But I also like nu metal (reminds me of when I was young and stupid), some pop, electronic, dark wave, j-rock etc. Never rap. Or screamy screamy ARRRGGHHHH music.

So? Not every song needs to be pure lyrical poetry.

god damn this is like everything on my pandora station

Creating a station seeded off VNV Nation led me to discover a lot of great stuff.

    Less pop, more synth :)

Synthpop certainly, I'm amazed bands like Mesh and Iris haven't broken into the mainstream. As for futurepop (Ronan Harris with burn screaming for coming up with that term), "pop" as it's usually thought of didn't really have a lot to do with it. It was more about taking influence from popular dance genres (mainly trance), that taking cues from mainstream pop music.

Endless Skies is a great song, but they slow stuff from VNV never held my attention all that much, I much prefer the slightly more driven stuff. Not been a huge fan of their more recent stuff, although there's still some good stuff there (Sentinel for a start).

I think VNV got near to perfection with pretty much everything from the Solitary EP up until the Honour 2003 single. Ronan Harris got too carried away with being a superstar DJ and analogue addict...

Yeah, Ronan has become pretty fuzzy with his vision. I just consider the two subgenres the same really.
 DnB with trance influences makes me hard.

I didn't really get into VNV (or EBM, IDM, whatever you want to call the genre(s)) until the past few years. I like all their albums, I think each track has something different to offer. I think overall they're my favorite group right now in terms of not only the music, but the themes and ideas presented. Also their live show was the best live show I've ever been to. Not that I've been to a whole lot of shows, mind you, but it was simply amazing.

Sentinel is hands down my favorite track on Of Faith, Power and Glory. However, I really like the rest of it too.

Being a chronic anal retentive, I couldn't stand that the Ghosts deluxe edition wouldn't fit neatly on my CD shelf...
The booklet with all the art must be fantastic though, the low-resolution images in the PDF are absolutely gorgeous.

I do think there's something for everyone in Trent Reznor's catalogue, the material is so incredibly broad ranging. Personally, after having made numerous minor modifications to the older albums, I've barely been listening to anything else all year. When it starts getting a little old, I self-impose a few weeks focusing on Jane's Addiction, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Psapp or trying something new, then when I just can't go any longer without The Downward Spiral, it blows my mind all over again.

Arrogant Worms and Tom Lehrer (recorded live) are probably a little different than what you are used to :)
