  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. After all, the point of having to have the CD in is to stop you distributing it to your friends. Cracks come out to help people distribute it to their friends, not to cut load inconviniences.

The older version no-cd .exe's work too...

A rule of thumb about trojans that whatnot:
If the file you're replacing is 10 times the size of the original exe (as the 402 no-cd that had a trojan was), you should be suspiscious. Now this doesn't guarantee that
a crack is safe, just because it has a reasonable size, but it's a lot less likely someone has the ability to plant a destructive trojan in a 200K file than in a 3 Meg file.

I think it's just a "keeping up with the Joneses" thing. A new UT version comes out, so a new CD crack comes out.

Not only does it work, it cuts the load time for the game in half! I got tired of waiting forever for the startup. This is awesome! BTW I scanned too and found nothing. Looks clean and works great!

What was the format of the old crack? This one replaces the UnrealTournament.exe

The original exe was 245KB

The crack exe is actually smaller at 228 KB?

It would have to be a pretty efficent peice of code to do everything the original exe did in less space and include a plant. Don't you think?

Rooster:

Yes, I understand the old crack was 70K, but how did it work? Did you exe it and have it modified the UT exe? Did it replace the old UnrealTournament.exe with a 70K file? I mean looking strictly at file size means nothing if the format of the cracks is different.

Hell, when I used the last Crack, sure the ZIP file was 70k but that sucker expanded to 200k easy, you need to watch what is really what size.

Rooster, do you feel you have to justify using a crack? It's not illegal, it's not immoral. I use a crack so I don't have to put a CD in! My PC isn't a playstation! There is NO reason I should have to put a CD in every time I want to play a game. CD checks are ridiculous. In addition, since they are easily cracked, they are also obviously not effective at all.

Actually yes, I do feel I have to justify it. Just because it's easy to get around does not make it right.

That'd be like me taking home a PIII-500 with 256MB from work just because I'm the Network Administrator and no one would question it.
