I just found your mod while looking at the awards, first i'd like to say congrats for winning, and from what i've seen of your mod, you certainly deserved it :D

Only problem i have, is that i see so few UnWheel servers around :(
THIS IS A SHAME!

The sunday night 'Burnout' seems like a good idea. I have a UK server (Only 512k up though..) and several US servers (currently used for my IRC network) which i could probably set up some Unwheel servers for, only problem with that is, most people only join servers which have people playing on :/

Have you concidered improving the bots AI? I played around with them for a while earlier, but generally it seemed kinda boring, and the bots often didnt behave correctly, if this were sorted, servers could be started with 2 or 3 'minimum' players, meaning people would join, and possibly find other people!

Also, another suggestion, maybe find a way to turn it into 'one mod' rather than 7 or 8 different gametypes, browsing through them all took me a while ;)

I hope you find time to read this, any replies would be appreciated.

Just dont let this fantastic mod go to waste! :)

One quick fix on the mulit gametype thing (from what i have heard, I havent used it nor do I know exactly what it is) is the "all seeing eye" for browsing servers. But yes the team has talked about the -mod switch and one list for UW servers but it is still in talks and seeing how Shrimp has run out of bandwidth for the month the discussions can for the most part only resume as soon as of Feb 1st.
PS: I think I speak for all of us at UnWheel when I say I am very happy you like UnWheel and thank you :D

Thanks for the feedback :)

On bots: The AI is an on-going mission, but with each release it gets a bit better :). We'll keep refining the AI and our map pathing over time.

On finding servers: Yes, I agree this is a problem, as I'm also finding it frustrating trying to find servers between 8734289 gametypes in the list :). I think when we start using UT2004's mod support, I'll have to re-write a sizable chunk of the server browser to get it to show all UnWheel gametypes :(.

Right behind you.
Apparently every mod that has done bot-pathing properly so that they race well (i.e. anomaly and unreal speed) have had to recode their own pathnode. That sounds like tons of work for both the mappers and Shrimp, but maybe some day we'll get round to it.

Sure Shrimp make me look like a fool, LOL. You must have some bandwidth left at work, you were just unable to check the results of the modDB contest from home, (wow things are getting clear, I can almost see) Well this is the end of my pointless rant :p ;) LOL

Nice server, unfortunantly, for me to be able to play, i need to learn how to do pre-emptive steering :D

Because i live in the uk, it takes about half a second for my actions to be reflected, which doesnt make life very easy tbh :/

1mb ADSL, as you saw.. lol
Although i was getting a ping of > 200 to a server sitting less than a foot away from me :con: (Although actual gameplay indicated otherwise :p)

Im the same but I never have a problem with the server

Probably because Ive got a 50:1 contention ratio in a retired area. So it's almost like having a dedicated line!

^Sweet :D
Hey Frosty have you tried mine? Do you have the lag problem on my server as well as the starlight one, mine is the official UW MSU server, IP is on the home page and in the thread for the team burnout on sundays.

My ratio is 25:1 in one of the most retired areas in the UK ;)

As far as i'm aware, about 7people have ADSL in a 5mile radius of me.. (well, thats what the BT Guy said)

And with 512k up to my 1mb down.. i'm not complaining :D

@ jerdaygo: Your server was obviously lagging.. lol although it was still playable, fortunantly, this mod doesnt require that split second precision for 99.9% of the time :)

YIPES, and I was bummed out about only getting a 3meg connection....LOL
On sn][pe's server the last few nights have been laggy, but I think someone is playing on a 56k. Been seeing some clan playing there lately. Their really into the rabbit mod.

Welcome to the community ;)

Yeeeehuh?
I won't add to the 'connection speed' chat, as I'm stuck on 56K, and this computer isn't my 2K4 machine (I am in the UK though), so I'll jump on a bit of FrostyCoolSlug's original post...
Well done UnWheel team! I remember when this mod was nothing more than an idea, fighting with the other 2K3-racing mods (UnrealSpeed & UnrealRacing), but look at you all now!
Being on a slow connection, and as I only got my paws on 2K4-Editor's Edition the other week, I'd quite forgotten that you existed. But as 2K4EE includes UnWheel, I started her up and...
Wow...
Seriously...
WOW!!!
I love KBall, and BigAir too. My favourite car is the POS car (don't laugh!), and I'm quite looking forward to firing up UEd and seeing if I can make something fun.
Mind you, as I'm lacking turbos and switchable headlights etc., it seems that I'll have to spend a day or two downloading the latest version first!
Anyways, thanks again. You've gained a new (old) fan.
