Epic Games announces Battle Territory - BATTERY, developed by NHN and published by Webzen, will be powered by Unreal Engine.

BATTERY, published by WEBZEN, is NHNGames' first game to use the Unreal Engine. Harnessing the strength of Unreal Engine 2.5, BATTERY delivers superb visuals, with realistic fight scenes and military combat in the outbreak of World War. Gamers experience explosions, flying debris and intense battle depicted with detailed rendering. The game enters its first closed beta test in Korea this month and is scheduled to launch in the second half of the year.

"NHNGames chose the Unreal Engine for its stable development environment and realistic graphic description to get superior lifelike game-playing, the core of modern military FPS," said Tae-hoon Kim, Director of Business Division of WEBZEN.

"Powered by Unreal Engine 2.5, BATTERY will provide the low-spec PC gamer with a smooth, optimized game experience and the high-spec PC gamer with a high-quality graphic experience," said Jeong-seok Park, producing director, NHNGames. "BATTERY is going to give gamers the heart-thumping thrill of attack and the chilling experience of battle in modern war."

"The game's graphic quality and speed is spectacular" said Ray Park, territory manager of Epic Games Korea. "NHNGames has done a first-rate job with the development of BATTERY, bringing gamers high-quality graphics with affordable PC spec requirements."

Good to see the old engine still has some life left in it, and I think there are a lot of gamers that could benefit from games that scale better. Has anyone tried running UE2 on an Ion-based netbook?

@pine: Love your sig. See you down in Arizona Bay.

Graphics look quite alright, I think, judging by the low-res video I saw, but the gameplay looks like a MW/MW2 knock-off and I'm not even too fond of the original.
Still, cool to see a new game on UE2.5!

At first glance, I had that "Yuck! Not more MW2" reaction, but on my second inspection, it looks like it might be more CS-like. Which is good. I think that style of gameplay needs reviving.

Looks pretty awesome imho. I'm not big on overly realistic shooters, or the typical "squad based gameplay! so when your team fails you fail!" type games either,.. however...

I LOVE when developers find ways to get the most out of game engines that don't require bleeding edge hardware and cosmos aligning luck in the form of perfect drivers and other software just to run at medium settings.

And, did I see well done dismemberment in UE2.5? Very sweet.

Still only PC prospect that excites me is the Red Orchestra game. Seriously, why hasn't anyone made a truly realistic FPS yet? Get shot in the arm you should drop your weapon. Get shot in the leg you should limp around. This makes combat fun. LISTEN TO ME DEVELOPERS :(

guess your kind of fun is different from mine... Yeah shooting someone else his/her arm/leg off is fun..
nah, don't like realistic FPS, they are IMHO boring.. Just give my back my old Tactical Ops but only with nextgen graphics and I'm happy.. but that's just my opinion..
