Newbie; I need help.

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I am new to the Unreal Editor, I know basic concepts of map building, but thats Quake and this is Unreal, quite different. Anywho, I need to know if anyone can direct me to a FAQ written for UT map designers and not Unreal Map Designers, such things as assigning team respawns, CTF stuff and the like. And one other question, when I want to delete brushes, they don't delete, it just asks me if I'm sure, and I click OK, but nothing happens. Anyone care to help a poor poor misguided idiot...er newbie?

check out the unreal tournament ai doc on http://unreal.epicgames.net

if you want to delete a brush first get rid of the red brush in one of the 2d windows by leftclicking on the grid and then pressing b. highlight the brush you want to delete and rightclick->delete (brown=subtracted brush, blue=added brush, magenta=mover etc..). holding ctrl allows you to select multiple items.

What those guys forgot to tell you is that after you delete the brush in the 2d window you have to press F8 and then rebuild geometry to remove the brush from the 3D view.

Ok, the 3d view can be seen as a compiled view of your map. Any brush that you add automatically updates the compiled view. But deleting requires that you recompile the map (or Rebuild as it's known as here).
