How do i get a SIG working???

As u probebly guesed, this is the first message bord i´we been a member of, that allows sig´s.

And do they have to be mpeg or gif´s, and if so,
how do i covert a bmp to such???

Edit your profile (click the profile button in the gray bar up top) and, where it says "signature", type

. That should do it. As far as I know, they can be any format. I'm using a JPEG, but I assume that GIFs or BMPs would work just as well.

well you click on profile at the bottom of any of your posts... then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on edit profile... then you go to your sig and type away /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

here's how it works...

first, if your making your OWN sig, save it as a gif or JPEG. then, go to homestead or geocities and get some free webspace (you have to fill out some stuff, but hey, it's free space.), then get the pic into your homestead (or geocities) folder. then, go to profile and fix up your signature. this is what I did, and my sig is working fine /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

BTW I convert BMP's to .gifs-.JPEG's by using PSP... I am not sure how to do that without PSP, I'm too lame to figure that out /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I´we tryed looking at both homestead and geocitys, but i can only find the option to build a free homepage.
So how do i just get a folder to put stuff in.

you have to upload the graphic to an online server like geocities and pls, make it small because some of us here (ie me) are using 56k connections or slower...

Well, both sites should have a "sign up" button that you should click on. I'm not sure where it is on geocities anymore because - since I'm already registered there - it no longer displays it but, with homestead, the button is in the upper right corner of the screen. Just click on it and it will bring you to a registration screen. Follow the directions and you're home free. Then you just upload the sig into your homestead/geocities folder. Both sites should have their own web-based Upload/File Manager utilities, so you shouldn't have to download anything. They shouldn't be too hard to find either. Once you've uploaded the sig, just edit your profile and place the address of the image inside the

brackets (try testing out the URL in your address bar before you post it to make sure it works). Then, if you want, you can start building your own webpage. I'm pretty sure both sites have their own Page Builder programs so, if you have no idea how to program in HTML, then they can guide you through it. Hope this helps.

If you dont want to bother setting up your own webspace , just mail me your sig file and I will put it up for you on my space , I have about 50 meg on a very fast server , so a few sig files aint gonna hurt.
