I got to thinking about this mod and found it to be missing some rather needed types of vehicles so I came up with these:

Hunter: The Hunter is a anti-air craft tank with a turret mounted Quad AA gun, good for shooting down those pesky aircraft. It aslo comes with a hull mounted MG for dealing with infantry, and heat seeking single fire missles for when you need to take em down fast.
1 driver 2 gunner

Hronet: The Hronet is an air unit, that has both a rapid fire pulse laser, and a set of swarm fireing anti-vehicle rockets, just lock on the target and let em fly. 1 pilot/Gunner

Not a bad idea but they both sound very powerful. At the moment the vehicles are there, but aren't a big deal i.e. they provide little advantage over someone on foot. You could of course program a mod to implement them, but I very much doubt that they would be added to the standard XMP.

Good idea though :)

If I ever get my scripts to compile in friggin' UTXMP, I'd have some vehicles.

It would be extremely difficult to make vehicles that would fit in any XMP map, and also balance with everything else. On that point, I personally prefer new "specialty" vehicles in maps built specifically for them (or the vehicle built specifically for the map) because it will be much more balanced that way.

For instance, lets say someone makes an XMP map involving a lot of water canals, say in Venice or something. It would be pretty much perfect to have custom vehicle boats, i.e. a rowing canoe for that scenic trip, and a motor boat to utilize the canals as a transportation system. In Garden, for example, the motor boat would be quite useless, no?

The Hunter sounds way overpowered, like already mentioned. It's basically just a bigger tank, which is kinda boring. If for instance it hovered, or did something the other vehicles didn't, that would be cool. Maybe a Flak Track (2 Wheels, 2 Treads) would be more interesting an AA weapon.

The Hornet (or Hronet, is that a deliberate typo?) would make artifact runs way to easy, and would easily gun down most infantry (with the slight exception of the gunner's homing rockets). It already is easy enough doing arty runs with the Raptor, at least that can be blown up fairly easily. With a flying vehicle, arty runs will go to whoever controls to Hornet/Hronet. I suppose you could make it so that you can't enter the Hornet/Hronet when you have an arty...

Other than that, sounds interesting.

I think the problem with this is it would be too unbalanced. Way way back I used to play Halo online, and it was so annoying that if you were on foot, there was no real weapon that was effective againt the banshee (flying craft in Halo). It really encouraged camping and there wasn't much you could do about it. None of the classes in UTXMP carry a weapon that would be effective agasint it...UT Onslaught does it well by giving you the AVRiL whcih is evens up the ground against flying vehicles...but something like that doesn't exist in XMP.

Also, what Shinzon said, artifact runs would be a little too easy.

hmmm

no weapons effective against banshee, I use the plasma gun and even the ordinary gun can destroy the banshee with a lot of ease (single player)

against the ghost and so, just the bazooka, one shot, one kill, and this with almost every vehicle in Halo

But yeah, some extra vehicles in UTXMP would be great :)

Hmm, the operative words in your post being:

(single player)

For sure it's easy in the sp campaign, but online, with any decent player who doesn't fly in straight lines, and ducks away to let his health recover, you would have little chance of even scratching the thing with a plasma rifle (the weapon that no-one ever used in Halo MP)...when you say "normal gun" do you mean the Assault rifle. Well, at distance it didn't have the accuracy to hit a banshee...up close it could do some damage, but again, the banshee was so manouverable it was tricky to get sustained hits on it..and again, any half decent player would duck away and let his his health recover. The gun on the back of the Hogg was effective, and you could get a lucky rocket shot, but bearing in mind the secondary fire on the banshee (which the bots rarely used in the single player) was the fuel rod gun...you rarely had a chance against them.

Yeah the rocket launcher would take out most vehicles with a one hit kill, but it was so slow moving it was inneffective against banshees.....which is kind of the point with UTXMP. There's no weapon that would be effective against a fast moving flying vehicle...so it would really imbalance the gameplay.

IN XMP every class has a weapon that can damage a land vehicle...but something that flies...the Gunners rocket launcher is too slow, maybe the Ranger's shock rifle or the Techs assault rifle...i guess it would depend on the armour of the flying thing.
