New PC & Frag Ops

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I am in dire need of some expert help if possible. I just built my new PC and it is set up to boot either in Win 7 64-bit or XP Pro 32-bit OS. When I try to play any of the ECE UT 2004 games all but 1 plays fine. I boot up into the XP Pro 32-bit OS to play all of the ECE UT 2004 games. When I try to play Frag Ops as I used to (bot mode) on my computer the game fails at the loading of any map I choose and the error is as follows;

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2004-09-02_05.02]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 3096 MHz with 2047MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (6671)

General protection fault!

History: UObject::processEvent
<- (FOPawnSWAT MIS-Dam.FOPawnSWAT, Function FragOps.FOPawnSWAT.PostNetBeginPlay)
<- ULevel::SpawnActor <- (FOPawnSWAT)
<- UObject::processEvent
<- (Interface_TabPlayerTeam Package.Interface_TabPlayerTeam, Function FragOps.Interface_TabPlayerTeam.JoinClick)
<- UObject::processDelegate <- UGUIComponent::MouseReleased <- (GUIButton Package.GUIButton)
<- UGUIController::MouseReleased <- UGUIController::NativeKeyEvent::LeftMouseClick
<- UGUIController::NativeKeyEvent <- UInteractionMaster::MasterProcessKeyEvent <- UEngine::InputEvent
<- UWindowsViewport::CauseInputEvent <- UWindowsViewport::UpdateInput <- UViewport::ReadInput
<- APlayerController::Tick <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=0) <- TickLevel
<- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Dam <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free
<- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 676F4C57 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free

If anyone here can help I would greatly appreciate it.

I can tell you I verified the installation of the game(s) included in the package but only the Frag Ops game does not load the maps .... 'any maps' without the error shown in the original post. This had happened once before but I can NOT remember what I did to fix it. It seems to me that it was some line or two in the .ini file that was incorrect. I also used the registry fix program to verify the key and it showed all was fine.

Hm. Usually when I get a general protection fault, it's usually because I don't have the right files or didn't install something correctly. Ask Great Emerald when he gets on.

Try reinstalling the game if you haven't already. Make sure you have the latest patch.

Thanks for all of the help. I now have my game functioning as it is supposed to. I had to run the registry check program and verify the install then I had to download the latest patch again because the patch I had was corrupted somehow. It showed that it was 5k short from what it showed in the new download. After installing the patch I was able to launch the game error free.
Thanks for all of the help.
