My new mobo, ram, and cpu was just delivered to me by UPS today. :) Got an EVGA nForce 780i SLI, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, and OCZ SLI Dual Channel 4096mb.

Just need to get new harddrive, video card, dvd burner, and a new tower. Thinking I'll get two EVGA GeForce 8800 GT cards and blow everything out of the water. :D

Well f***. Apparently they like to keep you in the dark about power supplies, so the 450 watt that came with the tower is not likely going to work with the SLI motherboard I got. Now I'm just completely lost as to what power supply to get. There's a whole list of SLI ready psu's, but what wattage do I get? 600? 700? 1000? Seriously...

More is better. 600 will squeak by if you get the newer nVidia cards, otherwise you'll need about 800 watts to drive your rig. A little overhead will mean the PSU works less, produces less heat and will last longer... Get one with a big 120mm fan and dual power rails FTW.

Most all power spplies that come with the cases are junk. Check out some from OCZ, I`ve had one in my SLI rig now for a couple years, 2 video cards, 4 hard drives in RAID, 2 CD drives, a floppy, couple case fans etc., no problems.

If the PSU is advertised "SLI" it will have 2x of the 6 pin connectors available. I purchased a modular PSU so only the cables I needed were used and left options for extras; like a 4 drive raid cage, coolit cpu cooler and a few case fans.
