I think I worked out the blurred textures.

    I did a few things.
I put in advanced options of unreal
    Cachemegs to 64...usually just 4

then make sure BIOS apeture is half your system memory..mine is 64 megs

then in the creative vidcard settings, set display to
best image quality (not best performance)
and I put use system memory for textures to 63
    and sharpen textures.

    seems to work out.

since there wasnt any direct unreal settings it had to be something else.

newer vidcards with newer unreal engine stuff has more controls in its rendering to manipulate the rendering settings than does unreal,
so I knew I had to look at the creative setups and not Unreal's.

Still seems to be kinda blurry, but much better.

Do you think you could make a movie? Like 4 minutes of Unreal gameplay with shadows?

I would have to wonder if there is some kind of frame catcher available.

I plan to go thru the whole game and take a bunch of screenshots.

I did a test with fraps v 1.9, it uses dx8.1 which is on my machine.

but its faq says it needs the detonator drivers or radions to work right, and my test yielded nothing, it needs to work on the creative drivers.

running fraps will kill some system performance and with shadows its so precious.

I am more setup to aim a camera at the screen than to use an fps killer, I will have to install a larger HD in the shadows system if I use a video capture.
I want to be able to capture video anyways eventually, so a compatible frame capture will be cool, but have to find one that works, if I can find an earlier fraps or whatever.

The latest fraps version will not do it and its a purchase version, demo is limited to 30 seconds...

I'm running it at 400x300

so far the best idea I have is to check ebay for the creative 6710 vidcard, and grab the shadows patch, you would have to back patch to 220
it seems it doesnt matter what -Creative- drivers you use, but it must be the creative vidcard drivers, not the NVidia detonators.

My 6710 is sitting in my old 400mhz system and it works.
and mind you the shadows is an fps hit.

QUITE an fps hit, if you do all 8.

I wonder why with the public headers we can't figure out a way to re-enable this feature...

    Whoa this totally rocks!
I know about Doom3 and stuff but this here runs on my near 6 year old
    PC that I barely upgraded.
I figure the Creative shadows for Unreal are only rendered for the player and scripted pawn models and maybe a bit simpler and there may only be one shadow for each model cast or whatnot, still this makes me want 'em even more.
Oi per pixel texture lighting sure looks awesome, too!
I'm kinda broadening my lil UT fanboi horizon with Quake1 stuff now. :D
