I've tried Tenebrae, it looks alot like Doom3. I think industri is made using the Tenenbrae engine.. (me is getting ideas)

Industri is made w/ the Tenebrae2 Engine :D
Too bad it wont run on my 1yr old pc. All things aside though, an upgrade of the UEngine to include snazzy new graphics features would be kinda redundat since UEngine2 is exactely that. Would be much easier just to port the maps/model/tex/code over.

In a way I wish EPIC would continue some amount of support for Unreal to fix some buggers.

todays cards can do the shadows.

I had a puter prob and some data got smattered, maybe recoverable including emails from creative, I need to bugger creative tech support again :stick:

They've already said they don't have the Shadows code anymore to several people.

I wonder if anyone actually knows how real-time shadows work.. What if dynamic lighting were to treat meshes as brushes and constantly update... Anyone getting my idea? Obviosly it wouldn't work but it's a good idea to work on.

Dynamic lights aren't exactly dynamic :) They are predefined textures simply projected onto a surface (which would not work for making shadows), the raytraced static lights in Unreal-ed are just that...fully raytraced...so that's how they produce shadows.

Dynamic shadows would be very tricky to do in Unreal1 from scratch and TBH it's probably not worth the effort because they won't look all too good.

Would that have any affect on the BSP of the map? If it did, it might screw it up.

It'd have to be written deeply into the engine to be truly dynamic. Deus Ex 2 does that and the system cost is massive!

That's what I would think, Today's computers would handle it, but back then it would have been rediculous.

I found another creative ct6710 card to replace the one I got, hopefully it works right. in delivery from the previous owner currently

I can only think that the shadow is some kind of active decal.
I recall in Jedi KNight, it had some kind of shadowing, but it sorta worked, then not, the shadow would be in some place it shouldnt be...

    I have shadows!!

my other card apparently is borked.

There is a problem, it seems the LOD is cut waaay back as textures are badly
blurred, prolly a cost at rendering shadows.
But do notice the shadows falling across all solid objects, very interesting.

I will take requests for anything people want to see using shadows, even custom make a quicky map, since I just got it working I will be exploring it, so any ideas you have helps.

    :)
Nice job, but yeah, the textures do look really bad. If someone could code some softshadows that would be good. These stencil shadows are a little meh.
