Hello,

I recently reinstalled my system and I've already installed Unreal Gold und UT G.O.T.Y. Edition. Now I want to install U2, UT2003 & UT2004. But there are 2 Problems:

1.) I need OpenAL Patches for Unreal 2, UT2003 & UT2004. I know they're available somewhere. Where can I DL them? EAX sucks...

2.) I need fast download locations for UT2003 & UT2004 Files, since GameServers.net (formerly linked for BU-Files) was shut down. GamersHell isn't reliable, since sometimes some files are not found there. FileFront is too slow since I wanna DL several Gigabytes of Files. And I have to redirect to both last mentioned Sites to DL the Files - thats nerv stressing... Aren't there any european DL-Sites for Unreal-Files (f.e. from Germany or UK)? (they should contain important and popular Unreal Files)

Thx,

M-2396

EAX was phased out of the engine with Unreal Engine 2. You shouldn't need any patching for these games. At least for UT2004 I'm certain of this.

Actually, from what I know, UT2004 doesn't really have EAX (which is DirectSound-only), it has EFX and works on OpenAL already. Same with all other Unreal games. Epic Games is highly affiliated with Creative, even from Unreal 1 when it was the first game ever made with EAX 1.0 support (it worked on Galaxy back then AFAIK). And since Creative is the biggest contributor to OpenAL, basically all Unreal games have OpenAL ever since.

If you have an X-Fi, you can get the X-Fi patch for UT2004 but it will break EFX.

There is an X-Fi-Patch for UT2004 and I found it:

http://www.fileplanet.com/165269/160000/fileinfo/UT2004---v3369-X-Fi-Sound-Blaster-Patch

I've installed it about 1 hour ago and UT2004 sounds now completely different. I'd like to configure it but I don't find any documentation. And there's no Output Rate Option (11025Hz, 22050Hz, and so on) in the AL-Subsystem-Section of my UT2004.ini (and it already wasn't before I installed the X-Fi-Patch). Do I have to manually type it?

With the X-Fi-Patch you can now use all 128 channels offered by Creative X-Fi-Cards. But I want to get rid of these custom music and sound brought by Creative. Anyone have experience with this Patch and is there any documentation?

And it also be nice, if there's an OpenAL-/X-Fi-Patch for Unreal 2 and UT2003 (want to use OpenAL and 128 Channels there as well:cool: )

Thx,

Yes, you control the music with the files in the UT2004/ISACT folder. Just remove the music references in ISACT.ini and it should work.
You already use OpenAL in those games. And you'll never need 128 channels there anyway.

I think that's because in the INI, it says "AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem"; however, U2 actually uses DirectMusic for music and OpenAL for sounds, and you can't configure both from one options screen.
Also, in U2 INI, it says: Channels=32. Not sure if bumping this works.
