Need help with Unreal Tornament 3

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Probably all punctuation went from that post into the inis and messed them up.

Oh, that reminds me ... today is Wednesday, Zero Punctuation day.

What kind of computer do you have? (System specification.)

It will probably help if you open up your UTEngine.ini and modify the Engine.ISVHacks to the following:
Code:
[Engine.ISVHacks]
bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True
DisableATITextureFilterOptimizationChecks=True
UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=True
PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=True
Also make sure you have the latest video and audio drivers. Don't forget to update the game to v2.1 and install the Titan Pack.

Sudden restarts usally happen because of faulty hardware and/or overheating. Check your system temperatures.

People are more willing to help you if you provide more details about your system configuration and the steps you've already tried to resolve problem.

Which video driver version are you using? You must use the one you download from nvidia. You cannoit use the driver that came with the card or with your computer.

Your video card is right at the minimum spec, so make sure you turn down all your video settings. Turn them all the way down, low details and low quality, 800x600 resolution. Once you get the thing working you can later play around with those settings to fit your personal taste.

Go to this troubleshooting thread at the UT3 forum. Follow the instructions for running a clean setup and reinstall the latest direct X as it specifies.

http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=590086

There are also other threads in the troubleshooting section which may help;

This thread has one solution, maybe it will fix your problem if it's still bad after the clean setup and new drivers.

Sounds like it could be an overheating problem. Try running the game at 800x600 in windowed mode (not fullscreen), and run SpeedFan alongside it to keep an eye on the temperatures. That will help to determine if it's your video card or CPU overheating.

I advise playing either UT or UT2004 because with your computer specs, you won't have a fun experience with UT3.

You can still find plenty of action for UT 2004 if you play Onslaught (the predecessor to UT3 Warfare) and Invasion Monster Mash RPG. I recommend the Omnip)o(tents and Clan Death Warrant servers.

I am pretty sure you do need Patch 5 and the Titan Pack to play online.

Once you have it working, installing a better video card would be a very good move. There are much better cards available pretty cheap that will make the game much more fun to play.. The key is to make sure you get a card with at the very minimum ddr3 memory and 128 bit like a $50 ATI HD4670 or an nvidia 9600GT. Not all come with ddr3 memory, so check the specs before you buy. You do not want to buy a card with ddr2 memory.
