my two cents

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I like the Mod!

Being a long time Action Quake2/half-life player, I have to say this mod is going in the right directions. WIthout further ado, I figured I'd put my suggestion in:

I think the mod would benefit from better audio clues, that is, making footsteps louder so you can use them to detect approaching enemies. For example, using audio queues in Action always pays off, and those that ignorethem typically wind up bullet-ridden.

And, reading the roadmap, I have to commend you on adding bandaging, bleeding and prone to the future versions. It will only make a good mod better.

good to have a convert. If I'm not mistaken, they are going to have that (haven't read the roadmap in a long time.

Good to hear someone from the HL/AQ community posting something different than 'make this like CS'.
You know, we all really apprechiate that.
Hope you post again soon

Well, Action has a unique kind of "style" to it, a certain flaire that makes it such a great game. The weapons are distinct and balanced, and the items are nice, too.

Infiltration, however, has its own wonderful bits, namely the lack of an aiming recticle and the "bring to shoulder through the crosshairs" firing. Not to mention the wonderfully accurate lethality of the weapons. Did I leave out the incredibly expansive and richly detailed maps? Or the realistic, creative level design? Or the immpressive, ultra fast gameplay fact that 19 of 20 players can be blasted to bits in under a minute and a half?

As an amatuer Action mapper, I know the abundance of cover and great size is just something that cannot be done successfully with the Half-Life engine. Of course I could go on and on about the enjoyment of having capable bots and overall sense of urgency and adrenaline rush I feel when I play Infiltration, but I have said enough already. I always have a special place in my heart for Action, it is a fine game, but so is Infiltration. And I wouldn't want to make either more like the other.
